For almost everyone, however, it becomes a tangible symbol of experiences and moments long passed. Memories are precious - they can never be purchased - their value lies within. It is with this thought that the 1959 edition of the ECHO was prepared for you. There isn't space or time to enumerate all the happy times which have endeared the Smithton School ro us. The classes, carnival, homecoming, basketball and V01ley' ball games, social events, and many other activities have gone together to make this year for the senior the end of one very memorable phase of lifeg for the other students, the end of one very memorable year. We constantly reminded ourselves and each other that this book was tobe a remembrance of YOURS. It is for this reason we dedicate the 1959 ECHO to - YOU. anim xv' '18 Wang fr'-Q, M.-Em ww-f CONTENTS THE YEAR 1959 THE SCHOOL 1959 THE STUDENTS 1959 THE YEAR nv 'J l959 aff 'fav L 2: VJ ' , 1 Mr E :ijt S gi Q15 an CARNIVAL SCENES Cum uf Senior versus ,Tumors Teachers con versmg Coronation winners V 1 1 Bargain auction ,A ROW 1 Douglas Green Connre Teter ROW 2 Ann Garst Pamela Lamm Dan Page Llnda Smxth M1chele Curuss Sandra Wray 6- F ROW 1 Colleen Meyer Sharon Semkln ROW 2 Iacqulyn G1CSChSD, Sharon Lamm Joyce DICRSOD Stephenla Gleschen Sponsored by GARST DRIVE IIN Sedalla Mrssoun ROW 1 Attendants D1x1e Dye and Gmger G1lI1sp1e ROW 2 Student Counc1l Presldent Cralg and Shuley Adams Sponsored by ELLIS' GEORGE CURINUTT FLORAL ARCHIES FLORAL COMPANY PRLDDYS SHOE STORE Sedalla Mlssoun Linda Demandg Attendant, Evelyn Streitg Queen, Patty Rodewaldg Attendants, Madge PATRICIA RODEWALD CARNIVAL QUEEN CHRISTMAS OPERETTA Ho ho' Hear hlm' Attenuon' Left rlght forward' March Santa Claus' nght hand man ,N , li nw' V M fa -4 1 -my ,- 'f 3 y f P f, XS my 1 H . ,4 Ill , IA L, Ill' lm Ae 0 1' 5 : E.. . fi 1 f 5. xy xi 8 X - xf'f'f K sk Y i SA!
