MILES F. RAKER Supervising Principal B.S. from Mansfield State Teachers Collegeg Graduate work at Bucknell University and Duke University. l SUPERVISING PRINCIPAUS MESSAGE To the Class of 1956: It is an inspiration to me at each graduation to watch a new class of young men and women in caps and gowns and with diplomas in hand walk across our stage and be proclaimed alumni of S.R.U. Joint High School. During the past twelve years you have been laying the foundation for your future work. You have not yet achieved success in your life's goals. Experience and more training are necessary for the members of your class to gain success-in the fullest sense of the word. Each of you will pursue your own personal choice of a vocation. If from your class of 25 members you give one executive whose interest is that of his fellowmen and not the desire for profit, your class will be successful. If from your class you give one teacher who will inspire students to a life of honest service, then your class will be successful. If you give one nurse to give comfort and care to the sick, your class will be success- ful. If from your class you give one engineer to advance science or one doctor to conquer disease, then your class will be successful. If you would give one minister whose love for people is exceeded only by his love for Cod, your class will be successful. If from your class you give I3 women who will build homes for a new generation and I2 men who are equally interested in the family, then YOIEI' class will be successful. 6 If in a generation from now, you may sit in a high school auditlifium and watch your children receive their diplomas with the same freedoms of speech, of press, of religion, and from fear, as you have done, then your class will indeed be successful. It has been a pleasure to have worked with you in high school, and I wish each member of your class the best of success and happiness. 4: IVIR. CHARLES L. A new organization, the Student Council, was formed in our school this year. lts purpose is to help promote better cooperation and understanding in all matters relating to both the student body and the faculty. Two representatives from each grade, 7-12, were elected by their classmates. These representatives then elected the following officers for the school term 1955-56: President v,,w,v,,,,. ,Y,,Y,, ..,,....., . . Virtg Prggident ,,,Y,,,,,, .,....... A NNE Secretary ,,Y,Y,,,,Y,,,,,Y,,, ..,,.,,..,. M ARY Treasurer ,,,,Y,...,.,,,.,,, .,.,.,. ...........,... A L BERT HESSELBACH Mr. Leon Daniels served as faculty advisor. One of our first projects was to try to help regulate hall traffic. We also published and sold activity books for basketball games. These projects were quite successful. Some of the activities sponsored by the Council were a Car Wash Dayw, a roller skating party, and evening movies shown at school. We, the members of the Council, wish to express our thanks and appreciation to the student body and faculty for the cooperation and assistance given us. l MM, my Y , X' ,l V x ,wg .
