Our science dept. endeavors to help its students find their places in the living, grow- ing, and changing world; to understand and appreciate the interdependence of plant and ani- mal life, to understand and appreciate man ' s total dependence of Mother Nature , and to help the students find their relationship to the Crea- tor. In doing so, it is hoped that each student will find his proper place in life. Physical Sci- ence, Chemistry, Biology, and General Science are included in our program. College prepara- tory biology was another addition to our curri- culum this year. Students prepare for an experiment as Mr. Payne explains the procedure. 13

French classes take imaginary tours of France via books, maps, guides, and library materials. Records and tapes are used to help the student with his pronunciation. Daily drills in conjugations and vocabulary are stressed. Excerpts from French history, modern life in France, and purely fictitious stories await translation by second year students. Freshmen and sophomores burn the midnight oil in preparation of Mr. Woodard ' s Latin assignments.
