We hope that the experience was as enjoyable for her as it was beneficial to us and we wish her good luck in her new position as Vice Principal. 19 UNDERCLASSMEN CANDIDS 20 21 IN MEMORIAL Michael Santucci- loving husband of Janice, devoted father of Aimee and Michaela, gifted singer and composer of music, loyal friend, dedicated teacher of countless students. From his days as an elementary school teacher through his years as a resource teacher at the high school, Mike showed a keen appreciation of the uniqueness of each individual stu¬ dent with whom he came in contact. In Mike’s eyes, there was no student who could not be helped, and there were no boundaries beyond which he would not pass to offer compassion, understanding and support to those who needed it. He extended himself limitlessly to build self esteem, to conquer every weakness, to reinforce each strength, to meet every need, to teach the whole student, to help the total person reach full potential. Michael Santucci-a loving heart, a generous soul, a selfless spirit- we miss him, we will continue to miss him. Maureen Lynch Bennett 22 Kevin was the smile that warmed our hearts that smile keeps the memories although we’re apart He touched everyone of us in his own special way when we think of Kevin we miss him more each day We never wanted to let him go our love for him will always grow We never wanted to say good-bye in our hearts he’ll never die We all love you Fitzy! I, Jim Reynolds leave Kevin Fitzgerald (Fitzy), all the thanks for being the best friend I ever had and for all the good times we ever shared. 23 To the Class of “89” We knew the time would come, We knew it would come to an end, But we never knew it would come so fast, Moving on, leaving a lot in the past. We all shared so many things together, Though now we have only the memories forever, We will meet new friends and have more good times; But never, ever forgetting the best of high school times. We now face the world one on one, Hoping that we can all overcome, And create a future so bright and strong, So we never have to worry about what went wrong. I wish we could all stay together and be as one, But we all know there’s no way that can be done, So I write this to you with only one thought in mind; Good luck and good times to everyone in the Class of “89”. The Sentinel’s Football Team finished its season with an impressive 5-1 record in spite of the injuries that occurred during the year. The team’s tri-captains, Craig Montecalvo, Scott Weber, and Mike La Chapelle, along with its coach, Mr. James Dunn, proved to be valuable assets to the team s performance. Look at that stupid play! Don’t drop it! Hey, I’m the coach! A hug from the other team. 74 I like your helmet. Give me the ball! Well, I think Though the record of this 1988 Field Hockey season duplicated that of 1987 with six wins, eight losses, and two ties, this sea¬ son saw numerous exciting upsets. Top teams were never overly confident when playing against this season’s Smithfield team. Under the fine leadership of Sue Hindle, Maureen Leddy, and Ellen O’Connell the team spirit and comradery flourished. The first one is Cindy Neal who has coached everything from field hockey, to track, to basketball over the years and is now looking to take a break. To her credit, it was her squad that earned the very first R.I. basketball title, back in 1972. The second coach is Ben Benoit. We’re sure that we will find him in the stands when basketball season begins, since he has been at the sidelines for over twenty years. His teams have provided the high school with many exciting basketball sea¬ sons. His style and dedication to the team most surely will be missed. The last coach we will still see with the wrestling and softball teams, but he will no longer be Athletic Director. After 16 years, Tony Torregrossa, better known as Mr. T., has resigned this position. We wish his teams well in the upcoming sea¬ son but wonder what he will be doing with all of that extra time? Good luck to the three of you and may your future endeavors be as successful as your past ones. 105 CHEERLEADERS 88-89 .
