Men who shared vocations joined together to further the interest and better the quality of their work. Among these guilds was one formed by men engaged in building. Perhaps this was the most important, for life is a job of building. We strive to build a home, to build a community, to build a nation, to build a better world in which to live. In school we, too, are like the early guildsman for we are united by a common bond--the desire to learn. We also have our masters, our craftsmen, our apprentices. Our masters are our teachers and advisors--those people who are experienced in guiding others to become desirable citizens. Those of us whose Smith's School education is complete are craftsmen. After four years at Smith's School, we are ready to apply the knowledge we have learned. The underclassmen are the apprentices. These students are learning the process of building. All of us--faculty, seniors and underclassmen--are striving for the same goal. For our iob is meeting and accepting our future responsibilities. 2 DEDICATION We, the Senior Class of l 963 , wish to dedicate the year book of this year to two teachers who are very well liked by the students, Mrs. Agnes C. Gagner and Mr. Edward T. Mann. MRS. A. GAGNER Mrs. Gagner came to us in l 961 from Frontier Regional in South Deerfield. She is a graduate from Greenfield High School and Nasson College in Springvale, Maine. Mrs. Gagner teaches Foods and Nutrition. Mother as Mrs. Gagner is known around the School Campus has helped the girls very much. Whenever we have a problem it is solved by one of Mother's Brainstroms! l l MR. E. MANN Mr. Mann is a graduate of Smith's School. Like many of the other teachers he has come back to teach at his Alma Mater. He became head of the Auto Body Department in l 955 . Mr. Mann has been an inspiration to students at Smith's School. His instruct- ion and advisement have made many stud ents better citizens. Iwi Arts and Science Building Shop Building 4 Administration Building ADMINISTRATION 4 Best wishes at graduation to a fine group of girls. I feel certain you will be successful whether you con- tinue your education, find employment or become a home- maker, because the courses you have taken have given you a good background on which to build your future. Ann O'Connor Dean of Girls Director B . Stanley Dowgert To the Class of l 963: There can be no happiness in life without work. Work not only benefits the mind but also keeps all parts of the human machine in order. Work is the greatest force in the world for character building because it allows a person to earn the respect of others. ln the spirit of Dr. Charles Martin, l tip my hat to you young people. No one knows, nor can be sure, what great talent lies among you. Among the members of the Class of l 963 may be some of the truly outstanding citizens of tomorrow. lt is up to you now as this school has done all it can for you, and the diplomas you have received represent the end of the efforts of your teachers and the School to be of assistance to you. Good luck. C B.
