DEDICATION 4 lm In grateful appreciation, the Class of 1953 dedicates this year- book to the Trustees of Smith Academy. The students of Smith Academy and the people of Hatfield have always been grateful to Sophia Smith and to the Trustees who have carried out her wishes. We would like to renew and reaffirm this gratefulness at this time, because of the many fine improvements made in the building dur- ing our high school course. In addition to the structural improvements made in the build- ing itself, we are especially appreciative of the following: the painting of classrooms with soft pastel shades, the installation of fluorescent lighting, and the improvements of the auditorium. The auditorium, with its newly painted ceiling and walls, fluores- cent lights, sanded floor and comfortable theater-type seats, has given us an excellent meeting place. These improvements have made our four years at Smith Academy a pleasant experience, and we know that these improvments will be enjoyed for years to come.
