You once used to know You reach out your hand But you’re all alone, in those Time Passages I know you’re in there. You’re just out of sight Oh, Time Passages Buy me a ticket on the last home tonight — A1 Stewart 28 SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS AUDIT Row One: Treasurer — Sue Nelson Row Two: Co-President — Karen Reap and Susan Lord Secretary — Lynn Hordubay Row Three: Co-President — Chris Cioffi and Jean Elliott “BORN ATHLETES OR WHAT?” 29 SENIORS “Jump back” 30 “Handsome or what?” Mark Andrews — “Doe jjjj December 16, 1963 Robert and Josett Andrews “I’m surrounded by incompetence.’’ Student Council, Swinging 70’s Four-year college Kirk Angell September 22, 1965 •: James and Donna Angell 1st Sweetie — Sue Nelson “Don’t tell me that! We are all hoping that this year’s yearbook will be the best ever. A very special thanks goes to Miss Spillers. At one time or another we have all given her a hassle. And she’s always kept us going when we thought about quitting. We will all miss her terribly. Assistant Coaches Mr Maynard, and Mr Baun pleted another most successful season, finishing with an 8-1 record and capturing the Border Conference Championship for the second consecutive year. Highlights of the season were the thrilling come-from-behind victory over Portville to win the league championship and this year’s Big 30 Awards Dinner. At the dinner three Hubbers, Rob Tronetti, Joe Huntzinger, and Randy McCaslin, were honored as members of the 1982 Big 30 ALL-STAR TEAM. In addition the Smethport Football Team was presented the Leon Abbott Team Sportsmanship Award and Rob Tronetti was selected the Big 30 Player of the Year, the first time in the 23 year history of the award that a Smethport football player had been so honored. All-League selections also went to Rob Tronetti and Bill Vander- vort on Offense and Randy McCaslin, Rod McCaslin, Joe Huntzinger, Jim Davis, and Shawn Wolfinger on defense. In closing, the school and community are very proud of the achievements of this year’s team, and we all wish this year’s graduating seniors the best of luck in the future. We started a running club this year which finished with 20 members. The running club members ran from 5 to 15 miles on Saturdays to qualify for enrollment. The cross country members en- joyed the competition along with the beautiful fall trails. The Hub- bers ended the season with many strong distance runners. Steve Valenti led the boy’s team in points and Kathleen Goodwill led the girl's team in points. The talk among the girls, on Wednesday Hush Day rolled around. 112 HOMECOMING ATTENDANT JULIE COMES ESCORT TOM PLATKO What? a new style? No it’s just punk day. The spirit was really rolling now as the colors of the school changed from basics to wild and crazy. Hair was dyed and the battle was on, who would be crowned punker of Smethport High? Finally, the spirit peaked, it was the annual Orange and Black Day! The big game was tonight, and the mood was set. The Hubber pride was really shining now! The Pep Rally would be the finishing touch to the week. During the half-time show while being entertained by the Smethport marching band, Vicki Forquer was crowned the 1982 homecoming queen, where she then took her place beside Mike Valenti, the 1982 homecoming king. As the game went on, we were sure of a victory. As the last whistle blew, the crowd cheered for the Smethport Hubbers. It was a great ending to a great week as the scoreboard clearly read 21-6. Yet there were no pro football games, the players wanted more money. Joe Paterno didn't care; he had fulfilled his dream. The Penn State Nittany Lions were voted the No. 1 team. Overhead the space shuttle was flying alone, passing E.T.’s spaceship (he was finally going home.) Over in Great Britain the people let out a cry, a baby was born to Charles and Di. Barney Clark got a brand new start when the medical world gave him an artificial heart. A shocked look was on everyones face when we heard of the death of Princess Grace. And the movie world lost two of its best when Henry Fonda and Marty Feldman were put to rest. The death of nine people wiped the smiles off our faces, and the cyanide-laced Tylenol was the primary basis. One of our monuments was under threat, and Russia lost a leader they won’t soon forget.
