It is always a pleasure to congratulate the sponsor and staff of this yearbook for another excellent edition. A record of friends and school events becomes more precious with the passing years as graduates leave and enter the many pursuits of life. This year two significant steps to bring advancement and quality education to the Smethport Aiea High were noted. The several school districts served by this high school became a single district and the school was for the first time evaluated by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. These actions are essential to promote educational advance- Supervising Principal Mr. llugh N. Lunn B.S. 8. lVl.Ed. 4 dministralion ment and to make a thorough effort to better meet the edu- cational requirements of youth and adults in the Smethport Area. The two year study by the staff and faculty of the high school in terms of evaluative criteria for accreditation, followed by a careful and complete survey by a team of experienced educators, is designed to reveal those areas of the educational media that are both weak and strong. Through this effort the true facts of educational activities can be presented and the necessary steps taken for improvement and correction. Education is growth, and only by growth does our nation maintain the status and respect of both our friends and foes. And Genuine Interest in Every Student Hi h School Principal Mig. Fred Zam ogna B.S. Congratulations to the advisor, editor and staff of the NUNUNDAH. his a job well done and you can be rightly proud. The past year has been one of learning in Smethpon Area High School. Our school justifies its program and existence when students become self-motivated search- ers. for the truth, and knowledge begins to mature into wisdom. Education is very much in the spotlight and the reasons are perfectly clear. The role of education has assumed crucial significance because we have great faith in the ower of education. Knowled e is power and the development of knowled e and the Eroadening of character pay ividends long after classroom life is ended. QVQ: live in a highly complex, fast moving anf' intensely competitive worldg How much you have learned depends on how much J .rhave wanted to learn. In reviewing the NUNUNDAH for 1965-1966 we hope you will recall the real challenges to improve yourself. Not only will the Smethport Area High School fiave an effect on what you will become, but you will have an effect on the reputation and stature of the school. Second Row: Lynne Hagg, Co-President julie Mclieirnan, Secretary. As we near the close of our high scliool years, we look back at our countless happy experiences. We recall the many lasting friendships that have been made. We remember hard work shared in striving for a common goal. Our class floats were very successful. The Twilight Zone in eighth grade and Our Teanfs Bigger Than Your Team in our senior year were first prize winners. The Burning of the Court House took second prize in tenth grade. ln our freshman year we sponsored a Thanksgiving Dance and the traditional Sadie llawkins Dance followed when we were Sophomores. Our Prom, Moonlight and Roses was uniquely lovely. ln holding the annual Junior-Senior Banquet two weeks later than the prom, we created a new tradition. Then came our beautiful Christmas Ball, gayly decorated with holly and mistletoe. Two of our most enjoyable class projects were the trips to Harrisburg in eighth grade and to New York City in our senior year. These contributed to our growing store of knowledge that cannot be gained from books alone. We are proud of our class and of its every member. We will never forget the important role these high school years have played in forming the foundation for our whole lives.
