The paTh oT progress has been slow and paved wiTh hard work: mosT accompIishmenTs have been by Trial and error. Such Things as a sTudenT courT and lunch paTrols have been Tried unsuccessfully in The pasT, buT now The Trial period is nearly over and from now on I'm sure The progress oT The council will be swiTT and sure. Here are The accompIishmenTs oT The TirsT semesTer oT The I952-l953 STudenT Council: a head- plafe Tor The plaque was purchased Tor Donald Shirey, IasT year's presidenT: Jeanne O'Connor and Penny Robey were senT To The STaTe STudenT Council ConvenTion: very ePTicienT lunch hour and acTiviTy period paTroIs were seT up, we aTTribuTed Their success mainly To The iron hand oT Jim DuTTy: a pencil machine was insTaIIed: paid assemblies Tor nexT year were ordered: a recepTion commiTTee and all day hall paTrols were seT up during The Two days The DisTricT Band meT here: a swimming pool fund was seT up which raised over seven-hundred dollars: an assessmenT of classes was made a parT of The by-laws To The consTiTuTion.
