I P V u 35, 9 eff- ' 'QW 3 A6 iz. f ' f HIL! 7 L 'S , 2 mf' 6 jy I l C K . l ff' F 9 Q Podners, it shor' is nice to be able to get together again with ya'll. 'Hit hardly seems possible that this 'iere is May 27, 1976. If you will all just sit around this campfire which I done built, I think we can find out just what has happened to all o' us since 1955. Now thar is Grady Campbell, Wendell Hall, James Ed Hundley, and Sterling Bass who have ther big trading post down at Possum Creek. It sure is a beut and do you know that Elsie Rayburn and Norma Smith do their modeling? I Back up the road a piece is Circle Q Ranch which is owned by none other than Doyle Campbell and Frances Forehan. They have some of the best cow-punchers that you ever seen. Billy Spivey and' Paul Ever- ette round up the cattle while Gene Skinner croons to 'em. Ther grub is slung by experts--Bevelyn Killings- worth and Sarah Greer. You know how ornery Jimmy Ned Collins, Billy Hawkins, Dawsey Hemby, and Jerry Dunnaway used to be. Wal, they got ha.r'd by them perfessional football men and away they went to the city. They made some hit! Did ya'll see that gang o' young'uns what come in when Louise Spivey Branton, Marie Saunders Thomas, Evelyn Hall Creel, and Sherryl Caraway Metcalf came in? They all live down in the bottom not fer from Possum Creek. Two of our best loved preachers 'round hyar is Bobby Jackson and Charles Whitehead. Over at Brother Jackson's church, the organ is pedaled by our very own Margie Hodges and that lovely voice of Ernestine Clark's can be heered leadin' the singin'. It uz no surprise to us when we found out that Nellie Smith jined the circus and was later followed by Jewel Newman. Lamar Jones and Gerald Mitchell wuz the barkers of the show and got these gals thar jobs. John Wayne Hicks talked Jackie Benefield into trying out fer the job o' orange picker in Florida and thar they have been ever since. It shor' does me good to see sweet little ole Betty Peacock come on my TV screen. She got Eugene Tin- dell and Lawrence Harris thar jobs as janitors at Radio City Music Hall. Did ya'll read that ed'itoral that Horace Baxley writ in his paper on How To Become Important? He went right on 'ta tell that Barbara Watson and Larry Toole had reached their goal in life and that wuz 'ta own a farm and a pen full o'pigs. These are pow'ful good doughnuts that Robbie and Merium brung us from the famous Hall Deli'tessen. And speakin' o' vittles, yew ought'a eat at the Greasy Grill owned by Myernette Register, Joyce Caraway, and Jean Butler. As we 'spected, Annette Leddon and Shirley Jenkins got more larnin' an' 'er now over at Hickory Hollow what Edward Woods is coachin' an' Nelson Baxley is principal. Whut ya think 'bout Kenneth Register, Kenneth Sewell and Durl Smith makin' all thet money on the swimmin' pool they wuz dig'n an' turned out to be an oil well? Grace Phillips and Jo Anne Baxley have made some of the purtiest dresses what they sell in New York. Their models are Carolyn Peters, Shelby Jean Freeman, and Sarah Russell. Come to think of it, Rodney Collins is doin' all right too in his ottermobile bizness. Johhny Earl Las- sister is one o' his mechanics and Roy Saunders washes his cars. Thar wuz four of us that took to the air. Jean Brackin, Carolyn McCullough, Flora Nell Singletary, and Loudean Williford er hostesses on big airplanes. . I almost fergot to tell yew that I run a clothes washin' house. 'Hit plum keeps me busy all tha' time. That just 'bout gets us all. lt shor has been good talking to yew. Now if yew will just saddle up, we'll ride down the trail an' plan our next meeting. Grace Parrish 6 Prophet
