The week began with an appearance by the Arthur Hall Afro-American Dance Ensemble. They treated SRSC students to a dance workshop and later, to a concert. A young actress. Joanna Featherstone, gave a poetry presentation. Not Without Laughter,” on Tuesday. Also included in Black Is Week was a film, Attica, and a poetry recital by the Black Fine Arts Group. U S President Ford is shown meeting with SRSC treshman George R Clark, one of the youth leaders of America selected to meet with the President at the White House in an effort to help resolve national problems pertaining to youth National Boy of the Year’ Is SRSC Freshman ble amount of public appearances and travel. In Miami. Florida. last summer, he was introduced at the national convention of the American Legion where he also participated in the Legion’s Parade of Champions. Following the convention, he went to Salt Lake City where the Academy of Achievement honored youth from all over the world. Clark was one of 25 youths to receive the Golden Plate” award at the Academy's annual banquet. The renowned SRSC freshman was one of the featured speakers, along with Art Linkletter. at the opening of the Dallas Boys Club. In New York City. Clark delivered an address to the 30.000 members and guests attending the national convention of the Boys Club of America. And Clark was invited back to the White House where he received the national award to meet with other youth leaders and President Gerald Ford to discuss current youth problems in America. The White House meeting was a special honor and memorable occasion for me. Clark said. It gave me the chance to meet and hear the views of other youth leaders from across the nation, and I was particularly grateful to have the opportunity to meet President Ford and listen to his remarks about the youth of America.
