Dr. Dale W. Houk President TO THE CLASS OF 1952: In the Saxigena published in 1932, Dr. J. Lin wood Eisenberg, who was then President of Slippery Rock State Teachers College, wrote as follows: “You are entering the teaching profession at a critical period in the life of the Nation and the State. The same could be said of the affairs of the Nation and State today. Your duty as a teacher will be not only to teach fundamentals, but to instill in the hearts of American boys and girls the attitudes and loyalties upon which our free society depends—to instill in their hearts the ideals of our democracy so that the American way of life will become more meaningful to more peoples of the world. May your career as a teacher bring you the satisfactions which come from a life of service; may success in the highest sense of the word be yours; and may the blessings of the Supreme Iking be with you at all times. mm 12
