Its purpose is to create and maintain high standards of Christian character in the home, school, and community. The club holds its meetings twice a month, and participates in many social proj- ects. my The Hi-Y Club is composed of high school boys Lmder the direction of the YMCA. Dramatics C1115 Both new and old faces around S. R. A. H.S. have a chance to learn about stage life in the Dramatics Club. This organization studies the various details of acting, and participates in plays under the direc- tion of Mr. Christner. ' V 9 , In ag ,Tk Senior Play Suspense mounts as another witness takes the stand. This is just one of the scenes from the Senior Play, The People versus Maxine Lowe, a three act play by Luella C. McMahon. Maxine Lowe is on trial for her life for the mur- der of her husband. She'is defended by an untried at- torney and has against her, the talents of the prose- cuting attorney. When things look blackest for Maxine, a surprise witness takes the stand and the mysterious past begins to clear up. S. many students are fond of history, but the Historian Club members take special interest in it. The club is organized especially for those students who wish to learn more about government and its functions. The club sets up a constitu- tion and those who meet its standards are admitted as members. A .' They further V their knowledge by field trips and 13 individual projects. geography The newspaper of S. R. A. H. S. is the Hi-Rocket. R. A. H. S. is organized for all the new faces who are interested in the ancient customs, dress, and language of the Roman people. The club holds a Saturnalia, or Roman feast, each November in honor of the Roman god of harvest. fibrary Club The Library Assistants' Club is a service club. Some of the various tasks of the assistants are mak- ing the bulletin board displays, working at the desk, putting the books back on the shelves, and keeping them in order. They get magazines for students, and get new books ready for use. After working for three years in the library, the assistant receives a pin. A few of the boys hope to further their education at Perm State. THE GREENHAND F. F. A. is an organization composed of many of the boys' new faces who are freshmen at Slippery Rock Area High School, and who take vocational agriculture. A. H. S. It is made up of junior and senior boys who are interested in operating audio-visual equip- ment. One of their jobs is operating movie projectors at assemblies or assisting teachers in the class- rooms. Bi6le C1116 Many of the new faces at S. R. A. H. S. belong to the Bible Club. The club is estab- lished primarily for the purpose of providing its members with Christian fellowship. It is studying the book of Galatians this yearg and if possible, it hopes to compete with other schools in Bible quizzes. It's that straight shootin' Rifle Club practicing again. The club is composed of ninth, tenth, and eleventh grade students who meet the re- quirements and really want to be a member. if-Mk Science Club For those senior high students who are truly interested in science, chemistry, and physics, the Science Club is the one to join. The members perform experiments in chem- istry a.nd physics in the laboratory. Film- strips on advances and new discoveries in science are shown regularly. Field trips are planned during favorable weather. Q nqgvr -1... 3 Varsity Cluli The Varsity Club has been organized at S. R. A. H. S. for the purpose of recognizing the boys who are lettermen in basketball. It is an exclusive club composed of only eight members. The club sponsors dances and many other activities. Membership is open to senior high boys who like to sing. No tryouts are necessary to join. The group sings for assembly programs and the Spring Music Festival. 33 unior Band The Junior Band of S.
