L , .11,A 'nil' 'J Bonnie Dinger, Francis Curran, Bob Fagley, Ronald Black Gazing into our album of memories, we see ourselves as forty-six shy freshmen taking our first step as we entered Sligo High School. Two weeks later we were initiated. As a class we started out cipite well by electing Bob Fagley president. Durin t at year Patty Johnson moved to Rimersburg, and Charlene Rhea went to Florida. The only activity was a Christmas party. When basketball season started, we were proud to have three girls from our class as cheer leaders. They were Betty Lou Elder, Martha Louise Libengood, and Genevieve Keister. The boys were also showing what they could do by participating in the field of sports. Entering Room 5 the next fall, we were met by Miss Haffley, who later became Mrs. McGinnis. The number of upils had decreased from forty-six to thirty-five. To get the year off to a start, we elected Victoria Ma ini president. She did a great job of holding the cTdss together. Our first activity was the Freshman Reception, which was held in honor of the newcomers. Although the only other activity was a class party, it was a grand year. The next fall thirty-two ,llmiors entered Room 6, where Miss Myers took over as our home room teacher. A week later we were moved to Room 7, where we were surprised to see before us a very handsome gentleman, known as Mr. Fleming. That year Bob Fagley was elected president, and we started off with a bake sale. At Thanksgiving we raffled off a turkey and a bushel of potatoes. The money was invested in Bluejay pencils and pocketbooks to be sold to students and people in the community. Our biggest thrill came when we received our class rings. On January first, we sponsored the annual New Year's Eve Dance. A new activity was presented that year. It was the Junior lay, We Shook the Family Tree. Next came tfe Junior-Senior Prom, held May 6, 1940. Under the direction of Miss Myers, we worked out an Hawaiian theme. The final step of our high school career came when we entered Room 8 in the fall of 1949. Since we had lost Kareen McCafferty and Ella McCall, there were only thirty Seniors. Bob Fagley was elected president. ln order to raise money for our annual year book we had a bake sale and sold mag- azine subscriptions. The Library play, Great Caesar's Ghost, under the direction of Miss My- ers, came next. On November 11th, we had an Armistice Day dance. At Christmas time we raffled off a tmkey and a bushel of potatoes. On Janu- ary llth we had a chili dinner for the grade school and high school students. Shortly after this, we took a day off to sell yearbook ads. Sadly we come to the day of the Baccalaureate Service on May 21. 'Slay 25 we will receive our diplomas and close the doors to the happy days we have spent in school. Thus, we reach the last step of our upward climb and gaze into the broad expanse which holds the future of each of us.
