THE SENIORS' ODE Sometimes dull and very dry Are Histories ot the classes: !Please. dear reader. do not sigh. Let me don my glassesl. And so you'll find. if you don't mind. The history of the Seniors- Oi books and tests. of pranks and jests. And petty misdemeanors. In '37 we entered here. As timid as a herd of deer. Still pea-green. we bore the pranks Of students of higher class and ranks. With Mays as president: Callen. vice, Things were going pretty nice. Iohnny was keeper of the dough. And Charlie kept the books just so. Nine months we studied-studied hard. Results recorded on the well-known card. On leaving. we shed a hitter tear. So ended thus our Freshman year. September saw us back again 'Twas our turn to duck Freshmen. In number. then. we were no larger. Our president was Mister Barger: Betty Calien, 'twas our pleasure. Should keep the books and. likewise. treasure. The Callens. we surmised. went together. As lightnin' and thunder in rainy weather. For Iames, we made our president. vice. Him, the presidency couldn't entice. The first of Iune soon rolled around And found us leaving Sophomore ground. Soon-too soon-or maybe sooner. We entered here-a jolly Iunior. It might have been that we were older. Or maybe just a mite bit bolder. For band and glee club were our pleasures: Every activity we did treasure. We were grateful. every son and daughter. For Sligo High. our Alma Mater. We journeyed to Holland-Boy! what a night! Not to mention the minstrel put on by the band: Everyone thought it was Sirn-el-y grand! And then. in the fall-so suave and so sporty- 'Way back in A. D. nineteen hundred and forty. We bounced back once more to little Sligo We were determined we could never too high go. We had since lost a Wiser. !don't you just love his meter?J Two Newells. and a Mong. and a red-headed Heeter 'Till now we are down to a forty or so: CO1 course. I don't mean that our grades are so low! !?7 And now we are reaching the end of our trail, And. likewise. dear reader, the end of my tale. You we are leaving-ah yes! it is true: With our very best wishes. we bid you Adieu. it
