CHRISTIVIAID PARTIES Seventh and Exghth Grade s The last week of school before Chrxstmas found the scvf nth and exghth grades caught up IH a web of festxve hohday actxvxtu s For thexr party they me early on Tuesday mght December ZZ at Wanda Fletchers There a w1de var1ety of entertalnment was furmshed whzch mcluded such games as poor pussy spm the bottle and country store At a later hour all gathered around the Chrxstmas tree for an exchange of gxfts and the enjoyment of hot chocolate colored marshmallows Chr1stmas cookxes and cellophane sacks of fru1t and other goodmes Freshman Party The Freshman class met at Mrs Rudd s home for thexr annual Chr1stmas party Games were played 01fts exchanged and Sophomore Party The Sophomore class was honored wxth a Chnstmas party g1ven by Joye Fortenberry The g1rls made d1v1n1ty and chocolate candy and popped corn as refreshments along w1th soda pop After everyone had eaten and the boys had f1red all thexr fxreworks gzfts were exchanged Everyone left for home th1nk1ng of the n1ce t1me they had and of Chrmstmas Day Junlor Party The Junxors gathered around a brxghtly llghted Chr1stmas tree 1n the home of Mrs Rudd to exchange Chrxstmas gxfts Games were played and refreshments of candy popcorn and fru1t were served The J'un1ors declared that they deserved another party because they dxd not get to play as many hours as they desxred Semor Party On December Z3 1948 the Sen1or class was honored w1th a Chrlstmas d1nner at the home of Mrs Faye lv cDan1el Dmner was promptly served at seven Dy hostess and daughter Anne After each had eaten as much as he dared games were played and g1fts were presented to each Everyone seemed to enjoy the exenxng very much as they b1d each other good mght and IX erry Chrmstmas 34 . 6 . 9 I I u g V 'F . f , f A , ' l ' s I ' l T '- I Q - I 'l 1 I . CHRISTMAS PARTIES Fxrst and Second Grades On December ZZ we had our Chrlstmas Party At the front of the room was the Chr1stmas tree br1ght wxth l1ghts and 1c1cles and loaded wxth gxfts On one s1de of the roorn was the story of Chrxstmas told 1n pxctures Chlldren dressed 1n wh1te robes and black txes sang Chrxstmas carols Mrs Cleo Cearley played the accompaxnment Anne McDan1el sang a solo and B1lly Wayne D1mm1t read the Chrxstmas Story Santa Claus happened around at just the rxght t1me and passed fruxt and candy to everyone Mrs Mae Gentle who does such nxce thxngs for the room gave each ch11d some candy and a book Our many guests helped to make the party a success The gxfts were passed and everyone went away happy Thlrd and Fourth Grades fourth grades and the Mother s Club wmth a Chr1stmas party on December Several games were played and shr1eks of laughter were heard from the ch11dren when the mothers had a p1llow contest Presents were exchanged from the Chrxstmas tree and refreshments of Chrxstmas Cook1es and red soda pop were served F1fth and Slxth Grades From a br1111ant1y lxghted tree on December Z1 the pupxls of the fxfth and s1xth grades recexved many n1ce gxfts Names were drawn by the pupxls about two weeks before the party The boys were presented a kmfe and the g1r1s were gxven make up cases by the1r teacher At the close of the party bags contaxnmg fru1t chewmg gurn candy and popcorn balls were served to them Everyone present had a mce tlme They left school very happy wxth the thoughts of the two weeks Chmstmas Vacatxon 1n store for them 33 Mrs. Lynn Rudd and Mrs. Ross Coffey entertained the third and 15.

CLASS PARTIES On the nlght of September Z3 1948 the Sen1or Class met on the Denton Creek Br1dge on lrhghway for a w1ener roast our sponsor had trouble f1nd1ng hxs g1rl fr1end and was late and of course he had all the food I-le made amends nowever by prommsmg us another party After all had f1lled the1r stomachs games were played and a good tlme was had by all The .Tumor class met 1n town and went together as a group to the Ponder gymnaslurn Carl Hudson took a truck load wh1le others went m cars Many Jumors are skxllful skaters but others declared they needed more practlce 1f they are to do any fancy skatlng On a fall October evemng the seventh and emghth grades met after school and were taken by Merle Otella and Ras Fortenberry to the Denton Park for a p1cn1c There we shared our baskets of lunch and each enjoyed a cold coca cola After that we hurrled to the roller sl1de swmgs merry mms ups and rock1ng horses where we played untll dusk Then we went to the theater to see The Babe Ruth Story e enjoyed the evenxng the p1cture the drug store refreshments afterwards and the r1de home On Tuesday evenmg February 15 the seventh and elghth grades gathered at the home of Opal and E B Fortenberry who along wxth Irene and Lee Shaw served as hosts for a gay Va1ent1ne party A each of us arr1ved we dropped our valentmes 1n a b1g wh1te box decorated w1th red hearts Later after we had enjoyed the many games of hearts donkey and a number of other entertamxng games these valentxnes were dxstrxbuted Then we gathered about the table for our refreshments From round a center p1ece of a l1ttle whxte tree decorated wlth red hearts we were served on a whxte d011y a th1ck sl1ce of good chocolate cake and a glass of refreshmg punch Room decoratxons xncluded a large red and whxte cup1d that hung from the center of the cz lllng We all enjoyed the party and left hopmg xt would be repeated agam soon 35 1 . .
