HIGH LIGHTS OF THE YEAR Axrplane Tour Tram R1de After study1ng axrplanes and traxns durxng the early part of the year the fxrst and second grade chxldren were taken to Fort Worth where they actually saw the thmgs about whxch they had been studymg On the mormng of November 12th through the lundness of Mr and Mrs Johnny Schertz Mrs H E Long Mrs Fmas HICKETSOD and Mr and Mrs Otto Dxmxtt the ch1ldren were transported to Fort Worth by automobxle On arr1v1ng 1n the c1ty we went f1rst to the axrport where we ate lunch xn the Conference Room Then a representatlve came and we were taken on board a f1fty two passenger Amer1can Alrhner Here our gu1de explaxned everythlng about the plane from the radmant wall heatxng to Bables Axd As we left the plane each of us was g1ven a flxght packet Next we went to see the trams Here we were met by Mr Logan Cxty Passenger Representatmve who took charge of us We were shown through the Sam Houston Zephyr whxch had just arrxved from Houston Thxs tram affords the fmest passenger tram servlce between North and South Texas The b1g d1ese1 powered engme seemed to be of ch1ef mterest to the boys We went back to the stat1on where we boarded the Texas Zephyr for Decatur Mr Logan accompanyxng us We 1nvest1gated everythxng about th1s traxn Two thlngs of much 1nterest to the chlldren were how people eat and sleep on a tram The sleepmg matter was solved when a porter made a bed for them to see just how mt IS done Then we made our way to the dmer lounge where everyone ordered something to drxnk Soon the tram was pulhng mto Decatur We thanked Mr Logan for his kxndness and courtesy cl1mbed off the tra1n and hopped 1nto the automobxles Away we went back to Slxdell havmg spent a pleasant and prof1tab1e day 26 We stepped off the plane saying, What an ideal way to travel.
