SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Of our present Semor class nme were once bewxldered fxrst graders whom Mxss Bethel had to launch on publlc school careers These nme are Walter B11ly Moore Wmmfred B1ll1e Fay Anne Jolene Bermce Rondal and .Tohnme The other f1ve of us were 1n1t1ated to school 1n some other system Three years later when we were thxrd graders the twelve grade system became Texas law and that same year we were schooled 1n the Baptxst Church wh11e our present bu1ld1ng was be1ng constructed The next year some of us sklpped a grade some were left behlnd and some were added to our number so that when we graduated four years later 1nto hlgh school we conslsted of flfteen By that txme too we had safely survlved many unusual and embarrassmg 1nc1dents and had reahzed at long last that l1fe has more 1n store for us than such th1ngs as playxng housekeepmg xn what IS now the tenn1s courts Anne and Walter s dally exchange of rmgs Bern1ce and Lynch s shy court shlp wh1ch conslsted prxmarxly of glvxng each other Chrxstmas gxfts and Bern1ce and Jolene s contlnuous fuss over wh1ch one Jack would accompany to Jolene s party .Tust one more lesson had to be learned before we could become full fledged hlgh school students Th1s happened when we were 1n the elghth grade At thxs epoch we had a subsutute teacher who fa1led to apprec1ate our sense of humor and so sent us to Mr Sm1th s class There we were made to put our noses mn rmgs and stand all per1od before the Freslunan class Later we found ourselves ln Mr Smxth s offxce belng assxgned var1ous and certalnly numerous exerc1ses all prescrlbed by Mr Smlth Wlth that we ascended xnto the Freshman class As Freshmen we had a new Englxsh professor who had very red ha1r and whose face we never could see because of h1s feet be1ng on the desk and because of h1s stomach s protrudmg However we d1d learn a lxttle Engllsh Doubtless th1s resulted because of the fear he mstxlled 1n us Th1s year Mrs Rudd was our sponsor and somehow managed to t1de us over mto the Sophomore class As Sophomores we welcomed back Mr McCarroll from an army mstructmg pos1t1on to supermtend and to coach us And two from our mxdst Charles and Walter went to work ln earnest and won basketball suxts whxch they st11l earn the pr1v11ege of wearlng Gxrls thxs year also began to seek a place on the glrls team even though only three were successful and they earned a sub s su1t we all were very proud As Sophomores we had two new teachers Ray Mxlhgan and Mxss Yvonne Parton After just one year however Mlss Parton chose a husband 1n preference to us and Mlllxgan returned full tlme to the pulpxt and to the college classroom 9 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 . . The next year as Juniors we met several new faces and missed some old ones. The new ones were Neta Reynolds Kathleen Wilson Margie White Fern Stice and Bernice Wilson--all from Greenwood. This year Charles and Walter held their A string positions and Rondal and .Tack proved high score men on the B team When we became Juniors we really d1d become recognized There never was a class that gave such an excellent account of itself as we did in our class play A Ready Made Family Johnny Billy Moore Carroll Ray Jack Margie Anne Bernice Billie Fay and Patricia made up the cast And it was so favorably accepted that our community asked that it be presented a second time and Allison invited us to present the play in their community auditorxurn On April Z3 we honored the Senior class and the faculty wxth a banquet in the crystal room of Marquis Hall at North Texas State College After the dinner the theme of whxch was graduation we attended the stage show where we were spotlighted by Floyd Graham orchestra director We also enjoyed several other highlights during our Junior year Our candxdates won fxrst place in the carnival and so Charles and Neta were crowned king and queen of the whole school we spent an enjoyable evening on Clear Creek roastxng wxeners and marshmallows and we decorated the stage for the graduation of the Seniors W1n1fred Margie Fern and Patricia clad in evening dresses ushered for commencement and Ann and Jolene dressed in white pique ushered at baccalaureate During our Senior year we have worked hard At every ball game we have had the concessions and have sold candy cold drinks popcorn sandwiches and anything else we could find in our cupboards With this money we took a Senior trip All year we debated where we could go to San Antonio to Old Mexico to Carlsbad Cavern or to New York SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS President Billy Malone Vice President Jack Leake Secretary and Treasurer Neta Reynolds Reporter Charles Lynch Actxvity Committee Anne Bernxce and Winnxfred 10 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 . ,l 11 . .. - at 11 , . . ,, - ng . p - 1 1 1 .1 1 1 1 I 1 1 . . . ,, . ,, 1 1 , . 1 1 - 1 1 1 I 1 p . , . 1 1 1 1 1 - , I -- . . , 1 1 1 ' ...................-.......... .......................... ........... ..... ............-.............. ... ... . . ............. , ,
