The North Tarrytown class had been honored in its freshman year by a welcome dance sponsored by the seniors. Its ninth year was also highlighted bv the festive HHillbillv Swing. Meanwhile, the Hlashington Irving class had been equally successful in its presentation of Black Magic. a dance given on the superstitious Friday the Thirteenth. Both Classes ended their freshman year by taking trips to Playland. The sophomore year found us settling down to our studying and concentrating on increasing our class treasuries. No one in the Vlasliington Irving class will forget how many doorbells he rang during the magazine sale. a sale that topped all previous records. The same sophomore class also sponsored the Christmas dance. as was the custom. North Tarrytown was active that year. too, having eagerly set to work on its mid-year dance called f'Blue Moon. which proved their efforts to be worthwhile. Again the school year was brought to a close with class trips to Playland. In the midst of our high school years. our two classes were joined in Sleepy Hollow. XVe found many new friends and with our combined efforts endeavored to have a successful class organization, The class rings were chosen, and in a few months we were proud to be the first students to display the new Sleepy Hollow rings. XVe began a Sleepy Hollow custom by presenting the first prom, Evening in the Islandsf, an event we shall never forget. Our senior year brought us face to face with college boards, college applications, and job opportunities. There was also the immense task of composing the Sleepy Hollow Legend. On the lighter side we can remember the successful Senior Frolicfl and the fun-packed class picnic. As the year drew to a close, we regretted that so little was left of our high school career. but joined in the last social assemblage of our classmates at the memorable senior banquet held at XVest Point. After that came finals and commencement. YVe had gained much in our four years of high school and owed many thanks to our teachers, homeroom mentors, and especially our parents. Because of their special efforts and concern in our behalf, we face the future confident that our preparation is second to none.
