Slatlngton opened its season on September 27 at Victory Park and was defeated 19-6 by Coplay Higfr. The next game was played in Lehighton and the Slate lads were set back, 26-0. The next game gave proof of a vigorous Slatington eleven when our boys outplayed and upset a oolorful Etemaus team by a 13-6 score. Northampton had a strong club as usual. Keeping the first team in almost to the end of the game, the Konkrete Kids ran up a 65-0 oount against S.H.8. Lou De Rosa removed hie first team from the field when he was sure the game was lost and let the other boys reoeive experienoe for the following season. Slatington suffered another setbaok at the hands of a Cataaau- Inspired by the extent of their ooaoh, the qua powerhouse. The Brown and White had too muoh weight over Slatington and ran up a 38-0 score. At Victory Park the following week Slatington put up a rugged battle against a strong Whitehall eleven, oourag Slatington lads seemed to be marching for another touchdown when the game ended. But S.H.S. fell short on a 20-12 score. Having traveled to Stroudsburg for the next game, Slatington held a strong Stroudsburg eleven down to one touohdown. The Slaters gave the Pocono Kids plenty of trouble throughout the entire game. Having played the final Thanksgiving Day game on a slippery field the heavier Palmerton team over-powered the Slaters. The Slatington Blue Raiders gave the Blue Bombers a soare by scoring the first touohdown of the game. At Stroudsburg on January 13 everything our boys threw up registered to a score of 56-26. This found Palmerton and Slatington leading the league until they downed us 58-48 before a capacity crowd at Smith Ha'll. After another defeat of 58-40 at the hands of an accurate Whitehall five, we returned to the win column defeating Catasau-qua, 51-44 and Northampton 48-30. The second half found Slatington more powerful than ever edging Emmaus 38-37 with the winning, goal being scored in the last few seconds;trouncing Lehighton 58-40 and over-powering Stroudsburg with a 42-33 win. Palmer-ton again toppled us on their own floor by a 70-46 score followed by a Whitehall victory of 58-43. S.F S. cagers outfought Catty 47-40 and in the final game of the season overcame Northampton to a tune of 60-40.
