BOYS' BASKETB LL FIRST ROW, Left to Right: Wayne Metcalf, Ron 'Thompson, Paul Thornwall, Dennis Sod- erstrum, Larry Larson, Coach Blackman. SEC- OND ROW: Jack Jones, Merrill Lester, Jim Young, Larry Swim, Jim Cerise. THIRD ROW: Chuck Buche, Manager: Denny Brown, Ron Harmon, Gilbert Anderson, Larry Tweedt, Bobby Brown. RON THOMPSON: Senior, Forward: Ron was the rebounding and scoring leader for the Hawks all season. Shoots a nice left-handed jump shot. One of the better players in the con- ference. DENNIS SODERSTRUM: Senior, Forward, Dennis was at his best on defense. A good re- bounder for his size and always a hustler. A dependable player. PAUL THORNWALL: Senior, Center, Paul started theischedule like a house-a-fire, but he was slowed up at mid-season by an ankle injury. Shoots a nice hook shot and was much more aggressive than last year. MERRILL LESTER: Senior, Guard, Merrill was small but very quick and several times dur- ing the season he came in and gave the team a boost with his ball handling and aggressive style of play. LARRY LARSON: Junior, Guard, Larry was always a good ball handler and during the second half of the season he became our most consistent scorer. Larry advanced the ball well all year and a press never seemed to bother him. He was one of' the team leaders this season. WAYNE METCALF: Junior, Guard: Wayne has the scoring touch and the desire but needs to boost his confidence in himself. Wayne possesses a good jump shot. LARRY SWIM: Junior, Guard: Larry has a good scoring touch but has had little playing experience. He came on well the last half of the season and when he builds confidence could be an excellent point getter. JIM CERISE: Junior, Guard: Jim is another boy with a good attitude who began to develop during the last half of the season. Jim could always be counted on to go in and get a bucket or two. A hustler at all times. GILBERT ANDERSON: Sophomore, Center: Gilbert is a great jumper and always does a good rebounding job. He needs to develop his shooting and ball handling. He is a much improved player. JACK JONES: Sophomore, Guard: Jack developed into a shooter this season and has a cool head in a ball game. He must overcome his size with aggressive play. Other squad members were Denny Brown, Ron Harmon, Larry Tweedt and Bobby Brown. The loss of four seniors plus the new school at Ballard makes next season unknown.
