J' 4' We, the class of 1958, salute one of the most deserving men we know, George Jones. As long as we can remember, George has been driving the school bus to and from school, to basketball and baseball games, and to any outside activity--always with the same pleasant smile. For his carefulness, kindness, and consideration, we shall always re- member him as a real friend. So with heartfelt appreciation we dedicate this HAWQYE to you, George. He isasuccessful business administrator for Better Homes and Gardens Magazine Co. While there we discussed our old classmates and what they are doing now. I found out that Jim finally married Pat. He still has a dignified appear- ance since he is now a successful inventor. He invented the Better Mouse Trap. Professor Swanson, after securing his Ph. D., is now teaching kinder- garten at Woodward. He is married to his fifth wife and has been quoted as having said It's just one of the adjustments of life. Dean finally went berserk and became a physical education teacher at Ballard. He is now Dean of sports at Ballard High and Junior College. Richard is a professional bachelor and has his own fleet of soap boxes. He is making loads of money. Kenny Nelson is driving one of Rich's soap boxes and is rated as the top soap box driver. He inherited Earp Oil Co. and is doing quite well in that too. Marcia finally married Kenny, and they are raising a fine brood. Kenny is doing so well that he bought Marcia two new fur coats. Patti married a Roland boy and started a beauty shop for dogs and cats. She is doing quite well. Denny is now an aeronautical engineer and has madeanew design in aircraft which gets him to Huxley in a shorter time from Seattle, Washington. Kenny Twit can be seen every Monday and Saturday on T.V. playing the piano for the former Lawrence Welk Band. He also sings very deep bass on the program. Garry is now running the beauty shop in Gus's electric shop. I under- stand he also gives haircuts. Ron has become a very successfuland slybusiness man. He burns money at the mint in Washington D. C. RON THOMPSON: Senior, Forward: Ron was the rebounding and scoring leader for the Hawks all season. Shoots a nice left-handed jump shot. One of the better players in the con- ference. DENNIS SODERSTRUM: Senior, Forward, Dennis was at his best on defense. A good re- bounder for his size and always a hustler. A dependable player. PAUL THORNWALL: Senior, Center, Paul started theischedule like a house-a-fire, but he was slowed up at mid-season by an ankle injury. Shoots a nice hook shot and was much more aggressive than last year. MERRILL LESTER: Senior, Guard, Merrill was small but very quick and several times dur- ing the season he came in and gave the team a boost with his ball handling and aggressive style of play. LARRY LARSON: Junior, Guard, Larry was always a good ball handler and during the second half of the season he became our most consistent scorer. Larry advanced the ball well all year and a press never seemed to bother him. He was one of' the team leaders this season. WAYNE METCALF: Junior, Guard: Wayne has the scoring touch and the desire but needs to boost his confidence in himself. Wayne possesses a good jump shot. LARRY SWIM: Junior, Guard: Larry has a good scoring touch but has had little playing experience. He came on well the last half of the season and when he builds confidence could be an excellent point getter. JIM CERISE: Junior, Guard: Jim is another boy with a good attitude who began to develop during the last half of the season. Jim could always be counted on to go in and get a bucket or two. A hustler at all times. GILBERT ANDERSON: Sophomore, Center: Gilbert is a great jumper and always does a good rebounding job. He needs to develop his shooting and ball handling. He is a much improved player. JACK JONES: Sophomore, Guard: Jack developed into a shooter this season and has a cool head in a ball game. He must overcome his size with aggressive play. Other squad members were Denny Brown, Ron Harmon, Larry Tweedt and Bobby Brown. The loss of four seniors plus the new school at Ballard makes next season unknown. i. Junior, - ,- ,.,- -, WV-- -- H ,W ll, 7, ,, D, . ., , t r , score as many points as the other two regulars, but she is a hard forward to defend because she does everything well. One of the better players in the conference. COLLEEN TWEDT: Junior, Forwardg Colleen seemed to improve with each game and has developed into one of the best scorers in the conference. Colleen won the scoring title in the county tournament this season. PATTI LOCKER: Junior, Guard, Patti developed into a top guard this season, she has a tremendous amount of desire to play and her aggressiveness was a big factor in our de- fense this season. I don't think Patti let down for a single game all season. DARLA CARLSON: Sophomore, Forward: Darla was the most improved player over last season's squad. She was a very steady player fora sophomore and is a great outshooter. Darla has a lot of scoring potential. BARBARA ROSS: Sophomore, Guardg Barbara is probably the most underrated player on the squad. She was our rebounder all season and the hardest guard on the squad to drive around. She turned in a dependable performance in every game. EVELYN VESPESTAD: Freshman, Guard: Evelyn developed a great deal and performed on the first team all season as a freshman. Her specialty was intercepting passes which she did very well. A good rebounder, she should continue to develop. SANDRA KLONGLAN: Sophomore, Forward, Sandra has a lot of drive andagood touch. When she gains more confidence she will score a great deal more. She played on the first six a great deal this season. KAREN KLONGLAN: Freshman, Guardg Another freshman guard who shows a lot of poten- tial. Karen is very aggressive and although she didn't start often, she played almost every game. JANET LOCKER: Freshman, Forward: Janet shows a lot of promise and has good driving ability for a young player. Janet has speed and needs only to develop her shooting. Janet played some first string ball this season. EILEEN THOMPSON: Sophomore, Guard, Eileen is one of the most improved players on the squad. She is exceptionally steady in games, considering her experience. Other squad members included Susan Weeks, Judy Ryen, Sharon Dahl, Tonia Schaudt, and Deanna Ihle.
