Rocket and Glider Club: Rocket and Glider Club members studied aerodynamics and rocketry. They had numerous test launchings on campus, although they never put a club member on the moon. The club was sponsored by World Airways and Mr. Daniel Hickey. Chess Club- Participating in the East Bay Chess League was the main involvement of the Chess Club. Members played in tournaments staged with many groups including chess teams from the University of California at Berkeley and Berkeley High School. Chess lessons were offered to the student body through this organization sponsored by Mr. Daniel Hickey. Educational clubs stimulate interest mm In-..,, as 1 Alternative Education Club Formed with the discontinuation of School- Within-A School, the club includes many people who were in SWS. Featured in the club program was a workshop on improvisional drama. The club was sponsored by Mr. Herb Kennedy. California Scholarship Federation- Along with the College Career Center CSF acquaints students with college campuses across the nation. Club membership was at an all time high this year. Mrs. Jean Cosad sponsored the club. N-Le at all M48 iv, .. , New club honors slain leader DECA- involved with learning marketing and merchandising procedures were the members of the Distributive Education Club of America. The Skyline chapter of DECA volunteered to work in the quick drink lines in the cafeteria and also staffed the school store. The club's sponsor was Mrs. Joan Goria. MAFI- international Week was a product of the organization of the Marcus A. Foster International Club. Consisting of representatives from each grade, MAFI worked to perpetuate the memory of the late Dr. Foster. Mr. Kenneth Goepfert sponsored activities. Future Physicians-Peralta Hospital was the destination of the Future Physicians Club on their first field trip. The group, sponsored by Mr. Wilbert Yuen, went to local hospitals and medical centers each month. They also planned a visit to the Ames Space Center in Mountain View.
