Extra counselor eases load To ease the workload of the counseling staff Mr. David Peterson became the seventh full time counselor. Aside from his new work Mr. Peterson coached the cross country and track teams. In the absence of Mr. Martin Jemo, Mr. Fritz Sparks kept the office intact. Liaison president of college scholarships, Mrs. Marjorie Beach, traveled across the United States with a national organization for the education of urban students. The ideas Mrs. Beach brought back to discuss were ones tried in other parts of the country. Head Counselor Mr. Henry Bianchi, along with his regular tasks had many other activities during the year. Calling meetings to keep all his staff aware of events, results, statistics, and general information were just a few of his duties. Head of the College and Scholarship Club, Mrs. Juanita Thomas sponsored many informative visits to nearby colleges. Speakers from as far away as Hawaii and Maine were scheduled during the year to help students decide where they would further their education after high school. Remaining in charge ofthe lnter-Work Experience program, Miss Alta Bassett kept a watchful eye on the lWE's throughout the school. Participants learned many skills while giving instructors time to accomplish more professionalized tasks.
