Principal leads evaluation process I One of Principal David Swanson's many duties was the organization of a faculty, student, and parent committee, designed to evaluate educational facilities and to suggest possible improvements, as part of a continuing five-year program, Working with the late Dr. Marcus Foster and five additional Oakland high school principals. Mr. Swanson installed Mr. Kenneth Goepfert as a full-time student activities director. As an added spirit booster, Mr. Swanson enjoyed the sponsorship of the new Skyline Marching Kazoo Band, hopeful that increased participation in student activities would create better relations at Skyline. Vice principals have hectic year Busy as ever, the three vice principals had difficulty finding spare time. Asidefrom the customary student disciplinary affairs, the vice principals were concerned with counseling students and evaluating teachers along with the supervision of various school activities. Mr. James Echols joined the administration as vice principal second semester, taking the place of Mr. Clarence Warren who left on a sabbatical leave. Top: New vice principal Miss Georgette Cary listens attentively to Sha ri Howington's story. Center: Stopping in the hall to talk about upcoming student activities are Senior Scott Hampton and vice principal Clarence Warren. Bottom: Vice principals handle jobs other than student discipline. Mr. Sidney Simonson tells Sophomores Tom Breuner and Ron Anderson about the approaching Homecoming assembly. Liaison president of college scholarships, Mrs. Marjorie Beach, traveled across the United States with a national organization for the education of urban students. The ideas Mrs. Beach brought back to discuss were ones tried in other parts of the country. Head Counselor Mr. Henry Bianchi, along with his regular tasks had many other activities during the year. Calling meetings to keep all his staff aware of events, results, statistics, and general information were just a few of his duties. Although each counselor had one special area to devote their time, Mr. Bianchi had to keep informed on all events. Right: Mrs. Marjorie Beach talks with a counselee about college meeting sign-u ps.
