With the return of Coach George Powles and the needed help from lohn Lagos, the Skyline Sluggers were anxious to capture the outright title for the second straight year. This year's cast of players consisted of sluggers Hank Wirta, Alfonso Carmona, Buddy Goldstone, lim Sullivan and Donn Falaschi. In addition, the Titan's pitchers Louis Bixler, Randy Nelson and Robert Haight were consistent. Other standouts were Rob Rovetta, Dan Eng, Rick Beren and Walt Boyle. Coming out of retirement, Coach George Powles tells Harvey Cornwell, George Howard, Ross Simkover and Rob Rovetta the secrets of hitting. ,Ski team works for perfection Beginning the year with a record turnout of thirty, the ski team looked forward to a successful season. For the first time the Inter- scholastic ski federation was divided into two divisions, the A league consisting of ten schools, Skyline's league, and the AA league consisting of six schools. To keep in top physical condition the members worked out on the campus as well as on the snow. The team, headed by Eugene Rockeman, raced at ski resorts such as Mammoth, Alpine Meadows and Heavenly Valley. mm, L, Upper left: Karen Wemmer, number one girl skier, anticipates the gate in a giant slalom.
