ln the last Oakland Athletic League game, the Titans lost to the Oakland Wildcats, breaking their perfect record, and hopes of a championship all their own. After a 21-12 trouncing over rival Piedmont High and a last second heartbreaking loss to Buscher High, the Titans started the 1972 OAL season with an impressive 29-0 shut out over Tech. Skyline launched its attack on the Bulldogs by running halfback Mark Palamore eight yards through the Bulldog line, scoring six points for the Titans. A short pass to Dave Blueford gave Skyline a 16-O lead at halftime. The Titan defense was even more impressive by not only keeping Tech scoreless, but also adding scores with a two point safety and a interception run for a touchdown. The game ended Skyline 29, Tech 0. The Titans next played Castlemont in a must win game. The Titans could not generate much offense, but in the third quarter the Skyline machine, eager for the win, began to move, and Skyline scored two more times, ending the game in a 21-8 victory. McClymonds was Skyline's third straight victim as the Titans smacked Mack with a 23-12 whipping in a beautiful day for Skyline's homecoming. Ron Brown, Dwight Wright and Mark Palamore all scored touchdowns and Kevin Schreiber contributed a record forty-five yard field goal to top off the scoring for Skyline. Traveling to Fruitvale field, the Titans faced the tough Fremont Tigers. Heavy rains dampened the field but not the spirit of the game. Once again the awesome defense did its job holding the Tigers to eight points, and stopping three separate goal line drives. Skyline offense scored only twice, but it was enough to out last Fremont 15-8.
