For the last time, student government was based on the house system. ln December, students voted to change to the class sys- tem. Fall house officers were the last ones: the class system went into effect at the be- ginning ofthe second semester. Chi members sold caramel apples to raise money to give to the East Bay Center for the Blind. They also sold smile buttons and gave away balloons on their spirit day, Along with Chi, Epsilon co-sponsored the success- ful KYA Oneders'-faculty basketball game. Members sold trick or treat candy for the Kidney Foundation at Halloween time. On its spirit day, Delta sponsored a pyramid building contest. Members had a cake sale to raise money. Omega sponsored its second annual pie-eating contest, and the post-Hal- loween apple-bobbing contest was popular. Tricycle racing during all three lunches pre- vailed on Omicron spirit day. Money raised from sales was used for a scholarship fund. Phi spirit day was highlighted with tug-of- war contests during all lunches. Also popu- lar with the students was a balloon sale.
