Auto Shop acquired an exhaust emission tester, which is the same as those po'sted at roadside stations to test cars to see that they are meeting the state auto emission restrictions. Skyline is one of the few schools in California to have one of these machines. The Trade Advisory Committee chose Skyline to receive the eighteen hundred dollar machine because of its safety record. New to the technical drafting department was an airbrush which works on the same principle as a spray gun. The paint, used to express depth, can be applied in any pattern. Air brushes are used in mechanical, archi- tectural, technical, and advertising media. Management, family care, and home safety were emphasized in the homemaking department with sewing and cooking a smaller role in the curriculum. Mrs. Kazuye Yoshimura, department head, broadened the scope of the department by starting classes in stitchery and needle arts. To accomodate students unable to include homemaking in their daily schedules, weekly classes were held after school. RIGHT: Mrs. Charlotte Rich and students Diane Brown, Kim Stinnett.
