After losing many graduating lettermen, the 1972 track team broke in many new sophomores and juniors in order to fill all events. This year's strength, as usual, was in the long distance races. To lead the field of long distance cindermen were Rex Weichardt, Dave Moles, Duane Booth, and Terry Nelson. In the mid-distance events, Harry Fews, Kent Mulkey, Pieteor Visser, and Dave McPeak led the 880 and 440 events in league action this year. Striving for the excellence of last year, the sprinters were led by Gene Howard, Clarence Williams, and Richard Leach. The triple jump was a new event in OAL field action. Leading this event were Ken Beaver and Stan Howard, who also competed in the long jump. Other important figures in the field events were Greg Griffin and Bob Altmeyer lshot putl, Sam Palmatier and Jim McDonald lpole vaultl, and Ken Beaver and Dwight Wright competing in the high jump. Sophomore Bruce Hardin works on his form on the high hurdles in preparation for the April 27 meet with Tech. Triple jump is new event Track team are FRONT ROW: P. Washington, C. Williams, W.
