smoz Cffam flcfefo 'ua When we, the class of 1957 started the long clrmb up SHS hrll lrttle dld we reallze lt would be such a short three vears After all the hustle and bustle we settled down to our new found work Frrst we elected our ofhcers the Presrdent was Berehrrd Towle Vlce Presldent was Myra Clavton, Secretary, Donald Young Treasurer, ane Cates The Student Councll members were Marge Laney and ane Chasse We chose Mr Harrrs as our class adusor On Noxember 12, we were honored with the tradltronal Sophomore Reeeptron Candrdates for krng and queen were prcked from each class ane Cates and Fred Codm were chosen Many of the Sophomores went out for sports Berchard Towle and Donald Young played Varsltv Basketball Cheerlerders were me Lhasse and Marge Lrnev Donna Wallace, Deane ulrron and Mabel Drcklnson were chosen as Majorcttes Some glrls w cnt out for basketball Many of the students were ln the band chorus orchestra and wlnter sports Our unror verr we were all exerted about berng upperclassmen and really felt blg the first few davs of school The frrst actnrtw of the year was the electrng of ofhcers The Presrdent was Bermce ones Vrce Presrdent Llrvton Clark Secretary, Mabel Drckrnson and Treasurer, ane Cates Stu dent Councrl members were Stexe Leakos Trudv Drckrnson md ohn Smrth, wrth MISS Collms actmg as cl rss xdxrsor ln sports, Claxton Clark Dennls Clement and Donrld Young were on the startmg llne up rn football We also had sex eral members on the basketball team Berchard Towle and Norman Dronne were on the baseball team Marv Ann Rounds and Barbara Eames were new on the cheermg squad wrth ane Chasse commg back for her second season Trudy Drcklnson w 18 Head V Cheerleader whrle Angel GlbbS Pat Merrrll and Connre Croteau jorned the squad Donnr VVrllaee was elected as Head Majorette whlle Deane urrron came brek for her second vear We were also well represented ln the band, chorus, orchestra and wmter sports The Sophomore Receptron was our Hrst brg dance We hrred Drsk ockres from Bangor and a good tlme was had bv all The annual unror Prom was our next brg d mce and of course that took the spot The gym was beautrfullv decor rted thmks to Mrss Collms md the bud work of a group of students Chosen as queen of the evenlng was Mabel Drekrnson who recen ed 1 beautrful bouquet of roses In the sprmg delegates were chosen to Crrls and Boxs State Thev were Deane Qurrlon Donna Wallace, ane Cates and Trudv Drckrnson Thelr alternrtes were Bermce ones, Fern Emma Stanton, Marv Ann Rounds md Dorothv Boynton Iohn Moore represented the boys Runners up ID the U N Prlgrrmage were De me unron and Doroths Boynton Last fall, we came up the old hrll full of sprrrts und eager to make the most of our last sear As usual the football team krcked off to another good xear commg ID strong the last half of the vear In the Captams spot we were serv proud to hue bug Claxton Clark Frerw cheerleaders reallv sparked ll up under the headmg of me Ch rsse De 1ne Ourrron substituted as Head Majorette for Donna WVallace who was able to come back rnto form mon for the last game Along with thc hrgh SPIIIIS of the turnmg Autumn Mlke Pre 1rd and Brllv Burkhart returne l after 1 long absence A serv sizeable turnout at the annual football dance saw Mlry Ann Rounds and Claxton Clark chosen as kmg and queen A new ss stem of eleetrng offrcers saw rcapable student councrl and class officers take the rems Trudv DlLlxlI1Sl7D was elected to take the Presidency and ane Chasse, V1cePres1dencv Deane u1r1on took the Secretarral spot and the Treasurershrp went to ane Cates On the Student Councll we saw Bob Rowell Dorothv Boxnton Clavton Clark and Prt Merrrll Last wmter durrng the sexere grrp of the serson the brsketbrll team flamed on a hot pace rn the wmnrng column and showed themselxes to be a much rmproxed club oxer the past few vears Stexe Leakos and Don Young hare been the outstrndrng contrrbutrons to the club On the frrst of December, the Senror Class put on a Cabaret Dance with the theme bemv Club ,7 There was a terrlfic turnout and the class made a fa1r profit Several of the students from our class were on the program whreh under the expert gurdance of Mrs Mernll was most successful The annual Senror Play, also under the drrectron of Mrs Merrlll was presented rn Mav Our vears of hlgh school are fimshed but har mg the age of abundance to cushlon our future, our class shall sllentlv cross rnto tomorrow and wrth wrstful judgment, wlll utrltze IIS talents ln harxestmg an exen better prosperlty 15 I f I - , H . .g , . y . . . . , 1 3 , 1.
