THE LEVER 31 and were accepted At the first meetlng held 1n the Study Hall of the high school John Hawes was elected presldent of the club and Francls Croteau secretary treasurer Other commxttees whlch serv ed during the year were as follows Executlve composed of the club ofli cers and Guy Flsh as production mana ger Entertainment which conslsted of two senlors two Junlors and two sophomores Those elected were John Hawes Barbara Johnson Joan Smlley Alv1n Goldsmlth James Avery and Constance Croteau David S Hawes was the teacher dlrec tor of the club Dlscusslons on actlng dlrectlng scene1y l1ght1ng publ1c1ty cos tummg make up buslness propertles and faclal expresslons were held at dlffer ent meetings Mr Hawes dlctated out lines on stage prlnclples at each meetlng ONE AGAINST DEATH At the P T A Wlnter Festival held Thursday evenlng January 28 the one act play One Agalnst Death wrltten sented The play was an lnterpretatlon of the early l1fe of Doctor Robert Koch an amazlngly resourceful and persls tent pioneer ln the study of the cause of disease-as he fought agalnst the popu lar 1gnorance and misunderstanding of h1S tlme The ent1re actlon took place ln the ofiice laboratory of Dr Robert Koch Wollenstem Prussla ln the early afternoon of summer 1846 The cast conslsted of Davld Hawes Dr Robert Koch V1rg1n1a Curtls Frau Emellne Koch Betty Jenklns Carl Paradls Barbara Johnson John Hawes Norrls Shepherd Guy Fish Frau Cohenhelm Wllhelm Perder Frau Perder Dr Paul Gultry Herr Cohenhelm Professor Cohn The Productlon Crew was composed of Donald Pooler stage manager Wlllxam Blsson llghts Amta Bllodeau costumes Dean Flemmlng John Simpson Alvxn Goldsmlth asslstants The high school orchestra under the dlrectlon of M1ss W1D0la Rlchan provlded the musical entertalnment INTERCLASS PLAY TOURNEY IS GREAT SUCCESS Wlth a near capaclty house at each per formance the Dramatlc Club s Interclass Play Tourney presented on the evenmgs of February 18 and 19 was a pronounced success both from the financial VIEW polnt and the educatlonal xalue to mem bers as well Vlrtually every member of the Dramatlc Club had some part to do and moreover dld It well whlch account ed for the smoothness of the ent1re pre sentatlon From beglnnlng to end each of the three short plays glven went off wlthout a hltch or even a proverbial fly ln the olntment Though Wlth a slightly smaller audlence Thursday night than Skowhegan play lovers The first presentatlon of the evenlng was Juplter Jones Detectlve Whlch was produced by the Sophomore Class The cast conslsted of Wilfred Weymouth as the young editor of the Weekly Clar1 on Arden Gllbert wh1le Beatrlce Pooler played Opp0S1t6 as Peggy Overton his sec retary and sweetheart Raymond Traf ford took the part of a suave crooked pol 1t1c1an Nathan Cobb who was brought to Justlce finally by Vlncent Croteau as Juplter Jones office boy extraordlnary The student dlrector was James Awerv with Gertrude Paradls as his asslstant Mlss Helen Chase acted as faculty adn sor In the production crew were Paul La fond and Earle Boone as buslness mana gers John Merrlll stage manager Con . . , , 5 . . , J , S 9 ' r r .
