After having playeiQSaturday night concerts throughouk C, the summer months last year, the band made its initia L appearance this school term at the Skidmore Punkin Show. 'I Last fall the band was invited to play at the Guilford Fair and the Graham -School Carnival, and was invited to , enter a marching band contest at the Pickering Horse Show, This spring the band entered the District Music Contest g. at Maryville and received a III rating. E5 Soloists and small groups from the band are as follows: 1- Menty Wilson, saxaphone, who received a I rating at the Maryville Contest, Lester Parman, trumpet, who received a . III rating at the contest, Roger Lee Barrett, trombone, 4:3 who is eligible to the State Contest by receiving a I rating at the National Contest last year, clarinet quar- tet, composed of Eleanor Jean Reese, Stanley Worl,Douglas ' King, and Conner Ledsker, which received a IV rating at the contest, and the brass quartet,made up of Lester Par- man, Bob Hitchcock, Lansing Reese, and Richard Argo,which received a V rating at the Maryville Contest. ' The following band members, Monty Wilson, saxaphone so- I loist, Lester Parman, trumpet soloist, and Roger Barrett, trombone soloist, due to their Maryville ratings are made eligible for the State Contest at Columbia, Missouri. I The band has been invited ate attend.sthe.Apple-Blossom Festival to be held in St. Joseph on May 2. VOCAL GROUPS: i The mixed chorus, which is selected from the combined J glee clubs, has made several good showings this year. It went to the Tarkio Contest, Harch 7, 1941, and received a H rating of II. Participation in the District Music Contest I at Maryville brought the mixed chorus a rating of II. y Both the girls' and the boys' glee clubs received a III. From the mixed chorus, small vocal groups have been se- - lected. The groups and their Maryville ratings are: girls' trio, composed of Eleanor Jean Reese,Helen Godsey, and Vivian Wilson, II, boys' quartet, composed of Lansing Reese, Douglas King,Conner Medsker,and Roger Lee Barrett, I II3 and mixed quartet, made up of Eleanor Jean Reese,Viv- ian Wilson, Lansing Reese, and Roger Barrett, II. Eleanor Jean Reese, soprano soloist, received a III rating at Maryville, Vivian Wilson, alto, received a II, and Roger Barrett, bass, is eligible to the state contest by having received a II rating at the Rational Contest last year. The following groups and soloists were made eligible for the State Contest at Columbia, Missouri, April 25, 1941, by their Maryville ratings: Vivian Wilson, alto solo, mixed quartet, boys' quartet, and mixed chorus. The majority of the soloists and musical groups have I appeared during the year at one or more of the follewingg I the Women's Christian Service meetings, the Rockford il Church, the Lurr Oak Church, the Methodist Church, 4-H Club meetings, P.
