HYBRID SEED CORN COOPERATIVE PROJECT Our members solved two problems last sprlng when they voted to produce one acre of hybrld seed corn for the1r group project The f1rst problem of course was makxng the decxslon as to what to grow secondly th1s project has ylelded cons1derab1e support to our Chapter treasury The one acre plot was planted Apr11Z7 1950 We applled 100014 5 10 10 fert1 lxzer and 4003 Nltrate of Soda Th1s hberal appllcatlon of fe rt111zer brought results because 1n September when we harvested the corn 162 bushel baskets were taken from the f1e1d We sold 31 bushels at S8 50 each thus nettlng the chapter about S200 for our efforts In January 1951 a bushel of the cert1f1ed seed was entered ln the State Seed Show at Morgantown It rated second ln the State w1th a 55 00 Cash award for our Chapter Members LR Mr Hewltt Cllfford Ph1ll1pS Wayne Howard James Eddy B111 Starkey Charles M1chael Alan Patterson Ross Patterson Donme Gr1mes Carroll Steepleton B111 Broughman and Charles Chute
