Sistersville 0, West Union Z7 A tough West Union squad found things to their liking, October 20, as they racked up four touchdowns at Core Field to avenge two consecutive defeats by the Tigers. Murphy, Christie, and Sweeney were the big guns for the visitors as they roared on the ground and through the air. A beautiful pass play, Huston to Gregory, made a touchdown for the Tigers but it was called back by an off- side penalty. Sistersville 7, Pennsboro 59 Smarting under four consecutive defeats at the hands of the Bengals, the Pennsboro Cardinals made the most of a golden opportunity as they pounced on a weakened Tiger eleven to register their most decisive victory. Hanlon, all conference back, made five touchdowns. The only Sistersville touchdown was made by a pass, Lapp to Gregory. Sistersville 6 Harrisville O What a night' Only the most faithful braved the driving rain to huddle in the covered bleachers to see the gallant Tigers salvage another game to make he final count five won and five lost The Gators presented a powerful team and proved troublesome to all foes during the season A fumble on the Gator 17 a run by Huston a hefty plunge by Knight spelled victory Sistersville 7 Magnolia 19 The usual big crowd to see these old rivals Armistice Day No Armistice be tween these old foes however the Eagles were blg and powerful grabbed two touchdowns in the first half one in the third quarter Lapp rounded the enemy right end for Z0 yards and went over standing up for the sole Tiger touchdown A bad fumble and some questionable decislons cost the losers dearly 1n the final game of the season The Tigers made an excellent showing in the last two games after losses to three powerful foes Grantsville West Union and Pennsbao Tyler County 4 H Camp Site of Annual Football Camp st mxm.. Sistersville 20, Pine Grove 0 Perfect night for the opening game. . . Little Pine Grove with a big team determined to upset the Tigers. Tornadoes fumbled on first play, set stage for beautiful pass, Huston to Gregory to Mikes who went across for a T. D. on the first play. Later, the freshman back plunged over another and Huston streaked for a counter from 35 yards out. Sistersville 13, Elizabeth 31 Big Bob Snyder was the diff between two Tiger Conference teams as they waged a terrific battle at Elizabeth, Sept. 15. Huston gave the fans something to remember as he returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown. Two long passes during the closing minutes spelled a three touchdown defeat in a game which could well have ended 20-13. Sistersville 28, Tyler 0 Unleashing a devastating running attack in a sea of mud, the Tigers regained some prestige by trouncing Tyler, 28-0, for the county championship. Huston, Tiger scat-back got across the final stripe three times, Mikes got one, Lapp and Gregory got extra points, and Goodfellow accounted for a safety. It was the first big game for Tyler under the lights at Middlebourne. Sistersville 19, St. Marys 7 Coach Mendenhall called to army--the boys had to win this one--they did. After grabbing a Saint's fumble, Knight plunged over. The Blue Devils gained the lead 7-6, but seconds later Lapp hit Gregory for a perfect pass and the left end went all the way,7l yards. Not content with this, the victors roared back 91 yards with passes to set the stage for Mikes to plunge another. Sistersville 30, Clay-Battelle 7 The big Clay-Battelle lads threw a real scare into the Tiger fans as they grabbed a first quarter lead. Nice passes Lapp to Gregory and Huston to Gregory evened matters, 7-7, at the half. Second half scores by Knight and Patterson and a safety by Swisher helped Coach Strager rejoice in his first victory as head coach. Sistersville O, Grantsville 27 Though playing one of the best games of the 5 season, Sistersville made tco many mistakes during the second quarter and fell to what proved to be an undefeated team from Grants- ville, champions of the LKC for 1950. lt was the strongest foe to be faced by the Orange all season.
