Sistersville 20, Pine Grove 0 Perfect night for the opening game. . . Little Pine Grove with a big team determined to upset the Tigers. Tornadoes fumbled on first play, set stage for beautiful pass, Huston to Gregory to Mikes who went across for a T. D. on the first play. Later, the freshman back plunged over another and Huston streaked for a counter from 35 yards out. Sistersville 13, Elizabeth 31 Big Bob Snyder was the diff between two Tiger Conference teams as they waged a terrific battle at Elizabeth, Sept. 15. Huston gave the fans something to remember as he returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown. Two long passes during the closing minutes spelled a three touchdown defeat in a game which could well have ended 20-13. Sistersville 28, Tyler 0 Unleashing a devastating running attack in a sea of mud, the Tigers regained some prestige by trouncing Tyler, 28-0, for the county championship. Huston, Tiger scat-back got across the final stripe three times, Mikes got one, Lapp and Gregory got extra points, and Goodfellow accounted for a safety. It was the first big game for Tyler under the lights at Middlebourne. Sistersville 19, St. Marys 7 Coach Mendenhall called to army--the boys had to win this one--they did. After grabbing a Saint's fumble, Knight plunged over. The Blue Devils gained the lead 7-6, but seconds later Lapp hit Gregory for a perfect pass and the left end went all the way,7l yards. Not content with this, the victors roared back 91 yards with passes to set the stage for Mikes to plunge another. Sistersville 30, Clay-Battelle 7 The big Clay-Battelle lads threw a real scare into the Tiger fans as they grabbed a first quarter lead. Nice passes Lapp to Gregory and Huston to Gregory evened matters, 7-7, at the half. Second half scores by Knight and Patterson and a safety by Swisher helped Coach Strager rejoice in his first victory as head coach. Sistersville O, Grantsville 27 Though playing one of the best games of the 5 season, Sistersville made tco many mistakes during the second quarter and fell to what proved to be an undefeated team from Grants- ville, champions of the LKC for 1950. lt was the strongest foe to be faced by the Orange all season. The Stragermen piled up an amazing l5 first downs but could not score on the big Calhoun line . Best Wishes from Eugene Beauty Shoppe -- Sistersville, West Virginia Pearl lnbody -- Phone 3231
