Dr Jere E Hurley Superlntendent of the Suskuyou Unuon Hugh School Dustruct has announced hus resugnatuon effectuve at the end of thus school year The Board of Trustees has accepted hus resugnatuon wuth deep regret Hus great contrubutuon to Educatuon un Suskuyou County and un the State wull long be remembered and recognlzed by the people and teachers of Suskuyou County Dr Hurleys forward lookung leadershup made possuble the seven new hugh schools un the County and expanded campuses master planned school plants to provude for uncreased future enrollment Durung hus admunustratuon as Dustruct Superuntendent Dr Hurley served for several years on the Susku You County Professuonal Board of Educatuon and also as uts Presudent Prevuous to becomung Dustruct Super untendent he was Pruncupal of the Mount Shasta Hugh School Dr Hurley early saw the need for a Junuor College un Suskuyou and planned and led the successful campaugn for the establushment of the Junuor College Dustruct the voters approvung by a vote of more than 12 to I As Presudent of leadung Calufornza Educatuon Organuzatuons and as Chaurman and member of com muttees on State Educatuon he framed leguslatuon among whuch .fvere provusuons for the State And for trans portatuon adequate teachers returement pay uncreased sta e funds for average dauly attendance whuch were enacted unto law Recognuzed as a leadung authoruty on school law and as a top educatuonal leader un the State many larger and wealthuer school dustructs sought hus servuces but he always chose to remaun n Suskuyou Dr Hurley leaves the hugh schools wuth fully developed curruculums adequately staffed with out standung teachers and all accrecluted by the Unuversuty of Calufornua Stanford Unuversuty and all other unstu tutuons of hugher learnung The feelungs of our Congressman Harold Johnson expresses our own When he read of Supernntendent Hurleys resugnatuon he wrote I can apprecuate the loss of the Suskuyou Unuon Hugh Schools and Educatuon un Calufornua wull feel upon your returement but trust you wull remaun actuve un the Calufornua School Admunustrators Assocuatuon and other such groups un order to contnnue to contrubute your extensuve knowledge of educatuon matters to the State As a former State Senator I have noted the great contrubutuons you have made to the field of Edu catuon especually un preparatuon of excellent leguslatuon The thousands of hugh school students to pass through the Suskuyou Unuon Hugh Schools durung Jere Hurleys admunustratuon wull always beneht from hus hugh educatuonal leadershup and wull wush hum success and happtness un the future DEDICATIO We the Board of Trustees the faculty and students of the Suskuyou Unuon Hugh School Dustruct hereby dedicate thus ussue of the Whute and Gold to Dr Jere E Hurley our loyal superuntendent . . , , , . 1 . . , . . . 1 1 ' I ' ' 1 - ' , . - 1 1 . . . . .
