OUR CABIN One day my friend and I were out hiking when we came to this cabin. It was a good cabin and we liked it. We went home that night very happy because we had found it. A week later we went up to it again. To our despair, someone had torn it down. We just stood there wondering what to do, so we cleaned it all up and started building another one. There was a small pine in back. We cut it down so that it rested on the trees in front of it. . We then cut more trees and laid them crosswise on the middle one. We found some thick cedar bark around and covered the trees laid crosswise. While I was stacking pine needles on the roof my friend was making a stove inside. The other day we went up again and burned it down. Although this story did no! win n fmt or second place the judges feel that it is worthy of mention. A SONNET TO A SPRING DAY CBM! Poem? It is unequaled in its beauties rare So pure and perfect in all its glory. The sun is shining, and the sky is free From cloud or e'en a sign of spider's snare. A gentle breeze floats lightly in the air, And fans the tufts of grass and tree, And through the open window wafts to me A voiceless call, its blessed gifts to share. But duty dares to claim me for her own. I cannot flee from ties which force and tear A captive heart, by hearing not its moan, Its sighs, or dreams for freedom it holds dear.
