This was the first year for the S.W.C. Investment Club. Running through Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo, our students competed with other teams across Canada for scholarships, trips and cash prizes by buying and selling on the stock market. mm W V ff The International Baccalaureate Program serves the needs of highly motivated, academically oriented high school students. These students are characterized by an intense desire for knowledge, an inquiring mind and an enthusiastic response to academic challenge at a high intellectual level. This is a two year program ending in Grade 12, when students write their I.B. examinations which are set and marked in England. Successful students receive an I.B. Diploma issued by the International Baccalaureate Office in Geneva. General Assembly involving students from all Calgary high schools. Students represent member countries of the U.N. and debate and vote upon current issues, The event is held at the University of Calgary and is sponsored by the university's Political Science Dept. as well as the public and separate school boards. This year, congratulations go to Matthew Littlewood and David Pick who won the prize for being the second best delegation of the conference. SCIENCE FAIR Students in the Science Fair Club were encouraged to participate in the Calgary Regional Competition held every spring. The competition was fun and students obtained practical experience, were exposed to new ideas, and learned effective com- munication techniques. This year, the Top Senior Award went to Ted Becker, the A.T.A. Award to Semi Chellas, and the Third Place Ribbon to Joanna Wong. Ted Becker also won the chance to represent S.W.C. at the Canada-wide Science Fair in Cornwall, Ontario. 1., Q? lm
