SCIENCE 50 The faces of the graduates in the next few pages should be carefully scrutinized. That these faces have bright, healthy features is a tribute to the modern, air-conditioned laboratories in which their owners have sought scientific knowledge, and we hope that other fresh- man classes will also come from such hardy stock. But it is not the somewhat mystical concept of hygienic vigour which should be noted but also the physical characteristics of the visages, for purposes of future recognition. Who knows what influence these graduates may have on our civilization, or on the lack of it? Already, our chemistry graduates, continuing the brilliant research work begun in other years, leave col- lege with deeper insight tor smellj into the biochemistry of H28 and NH4OH. It is now possible to state with almost definite certainty, in other words, it can be scientifically postulated that human beings can live in an atmosphere devoid of oxygen but rich in H23 and NH4OH, for 10 continuous hours without undue deterioration of the stomach-lining resulting. Look at the faces, fellow-graduates. Among them you will see the designers of time, the regenerators of infinity. You will find the inventor of truly permanent permanents, the builder of thinking machines which will enrich humanity with sublime poetry, CDirections:- Press button No. 5 for iambic pentameterj, or the creator of edible plastic dishes to complement the food.
