Pickles CLASS HISTORY On August 29, 1955, sixteen scared green freshmen entered the doors of Sioux County High School to begin their inevitable climb upward to their now mighty reign of seniors. Darold Abel, Lloyd Adams, Paul Atchison, Jeanne Bourret, Kay Bowling, Kay Broderick, Claire Coffee, Lloyd Dunn, Nancy Grimm, Mavis Hall, Phyllis Mas- ters, Jack Richard, Sharon Schaefer, Kittie Sykora, Joy Tipton, Julie Zimmerman, and Tamera Zimmerman became full-fledged freshmen after much shoe shining, fancy dressing, and bowing to the seniors. Kay Bowling left the second six weeks of school. The faculty during our freshman year was Mr. Jesser, Superintendent, Mr. Brown, Princi- pal, Mr. Lundy, Mrs. Bish, Mrs. Titus, and Miss Peterson. LaVerne Hanley joined us in our sophomore year and Lloyd Adams left. The faculty remained the same except that Mr. Palmer replaced Mr. Jesser. Mr. Brown became superintendent and Mr. Palmer was our principal. Our junior year started off with a bang. We ordered our class rings, and made big plans for the Banquet and Prom which we, of course, thought was the best in the history of the school. The theme was Hawaiian Sunset . We presented our class play, No Bride for the Groom , in November. Carolyn Haworth joined us this year and Mr. Bloom and Mrs. Stark joined the faculty replacing Mrs. Titus and Miss Peterson. In our senior year Nancy Grimm, Jack Richard, Joy Tipton, and Tamera Zimmerman left us. We gained one new classmate, Phyllis Wasserburger. Mrs. Hall replaced Mr. Palmer for the only change on the faculty. We had our class play, Saved by the Belle ,on November 14. As this yearbook goes to press we look forward to the Prom, Sneak, Baccalaureate, and finally the day we have all been waiting for, Commencement. CLASS WILL We, the Senior Class of 1959, knowing that we are the loveliest and possibly the sweetest class yet to enter or leave our beloved and beautiful school, being of unsound mind, of weak heart, and having but a few short hours yet to dwell among the joys, trials, and tribulations of our high school days, and being on the verge of departing for realms unknown, do make, publish, and declare this our last will and testament, hereby revoking any will heretofore made by us at any time we may have chanced to be in our right minds. First: To the teachers of Soo High, we leave the peace of mind that the class of '59 really graduated with many pages of unfinished homework. Second: To the Juniors of Soo High, we will the desks nearest the windows that are always full of candy wrappers. Third: To the Sophomores of Soo High, we will the ruins of Soo High. May you cherish it as we did. Fourth: To the Freshmen of Soo High, we leave all the tears shed in exams and all the wrong answers set down in moments of weakness. Fifth: As individuals we bestow the following: I, Darold Abel, will my ability to study to George Serres. l, Paul Atchison, will my ability not to flirt to Joe Hourt. I, Jeanne Bourret, will my ability to sleep through school to Sandra Anderson. I, Kay Broderick, will my ability not to flirt and my red hair to George Serres. Use them well George. I, Claire Coffee, will my ability to get home on time to John Skavdahl. I, Lloyd Dunn, will my height to Gary Thayer. I, Mavis Hall, will my ability of cracking gum to Ron Thayer. I, LaVerne Hanley, will my tail-back position to Dave Zimmerman. I, Carolyn Haworth, will my ability to flunk tests to Karleen Partridge. I, Phyllis Masters, will my ability to get home early to Eleanor Gillett. I, Sharon Schaefer, will my cheer-leading outfit to John Skavdahl. I, Kittie Sykora, will my ability of eating candy in school to Jerry Engebretsen. I, Phyllis Wasserburger, will my ability of being last to class and not getting caught to John Skavdahl. I, Julie Zimmerman, will my ability to talk to Henry Hourt. Sworn and Subscribed before me this 13th day of May in the year of our Lord, 1959. if g 47-77.-...E-, CLASS PROPHECY Since we are writing this prophecy we'll have to change the times a bit and take you up to 1969 to our class reunion. Now the dawn of the day of our reunion is breaking and we're so excited about see- ing our old classmates! Here comes one now! Well it's the former Phyllis Masters and her husband Terence Gillett. Phyllis and Terence now own the world's largest synthetic potato factory and have thirteen kids to help them run it. Phyllis tells that the former Kittie Sykora and her husband La'v'erne Hanley should be here soon. There they are! With them are their three wee ones. LaVerne is the noted scientist who brought about the building of the new space station four miles out of Mars. He and Kittie are going to move there as soon as they get their passports. As we go hurrying down the street, we see a huge neon sign which belongs to the one and only Hall Cab Company. We find that it is owned by the great Mavis Hall, who owns the world-wide cab company. Mavis tells us that her e ngage me nt to Junior King was announced on the front page of the NEW YORK TIMES last Wednesday. Mavis said that she had seen Julie and Allen Ellicott last week. They run a thousand head of registered I-lerefords on their large one acre ranch just out of Fort Collins, Colorado. We also hear that there are four li'l Ellicotts to keep the ranch booming. We're sorry that Julie could- n't attend our reunion, but she had to stay home and doctor her pet Hereford who has the chickenpox. We're sorry that our former classmate Paul Atchison could not be with us today, but he is appearing at the Flamingo Club in Las Vegas and he's making a bigger hit than Elvis Presley did back in the '50's. His wife, the former Lois Wasserburger, is a cig- arette girl at the club. The well-known quadrillionaire, Lloyd J. P. Dunn, owns the Fla- mingo and every other night club in Nevada. Lloyd has adopted the playboy pattern of just money and women. Now we see Miss Phyllis Wasserburger who won her fame in the movies. Per- haps you've heard of her. Her screen name is Bridgette Bardot. While waiting for the rest, we glance out the door and we see Sharon Schaefer zooming up to the curb in her new red and white M-G. Sharon and her husband have been on a grand tour of the world since her oilwells began to pay off. Stop! Wait! Hold everything! Here comes the world reknown Carolyn Haworth. She has been over in Europe studying psychiatry. Just a minute! We have to talk to one of our old, old friends and a member of our old gang, Kay Broderick. Kay tells us that she and her husband, who is an admiral in the U. S. Navy, and their four children have been in Honolulu, Hawaii, for the past five years. For Kay's pastime, she works as a nurse in the military hospitals. Kay tells us that she received a telegram from Jeanne Bourret saying that it was absolutely impossible for her to attend the reunion. Jeanne and her husband have been very busy keeping track of the Mt. Everest Rangers, for she is the big boss on Everest. As we walk down the corridor, we see awoman with diamonds on every finger. It is the former Twink Coffee and her husband. They went exploring and stumbled upon the great King Solomon's Mines, since then they have moved out of their cave into a mansion. They were really living in the poorhouse until they found the mines. Now we see Darold Abel and his wife, the former Bonny Sykora. Darold says that he and his wife are living in England while he is writing a book called the FINANCIAL STATUS OF THE AFRICAN PYGMIES. Now the sun is setting, bringing a close to the end of a wonderful day, one of which we will never forget. With this we say goodbye to all our old classmates with the final word, We'1l see you all at the next reunion!
