Gramm visit- ed SIMPSON to express his concern over the present iiuinher ofcoinrnitrnents faced hy todayls sailors. Sen, tirainni feels that the draw down is happening too fast. llc explained his niost recent vote against the defense appropriations hill. lt was his first nay vote on such a hill in I4 years. After visiting with SIMPSON's Tex- ans, Sen. Gramm toured the ship. He visited CIC, lingineering, the bridge, and the flight deck. As LT Durhin pointed out various elements of the SH60B helicopter manufactured in Texas, Sen. Gramm auto- graphed the Dec 20, 1993 issue of NEWSWEEK mag- azine. tquote and signature shown center pagel At the conclusion of his visit, Sen. Gramm was presented with the SIMPSON crest.
