The cere- mony honors the career of Admiral De Grasse and the vital role he played in leading the French naval forces in the American War of Independence. Vice Admiral T. Joseph Lopez, Commander, U.S. Sixth Fleet, was the distinguished guest. He gave several speeches and participated in wreath-laying ceremonies in the cities of Grasse and Bar-Sur-Loup, Admiral De Grasse's place of birth.
