If' J-In ff Ewuam ks Department Molding the future homes of America are the 148 girls who comprise the six classes of the Home Economics Department. These girls are gaining experiences in the many areas ot home- making which include clothing, foods, home management, child care, health, relationship, and housing. Modernization of this department has been quite extensive this year with the completion ot four completely new kitchens. The Board of Education and RECC equipped the kitchens with the very latest and modern appliances. The Rural Electric Co-operative replaces the appliances each year with absolutely no cost to the local board.

Using a dishwasher is eagerly practiced by the members of this newly organized Home Ec Ill Class. Pictured are Dianne Mil- ler, Joan Workman, Arlene Wat- son, Virginia Kruse, Judy Court- ney, Shirley Mills, and Paula Smith. The SK chapter of the Future Homemakers of America are an integral part of Simon Kenton's total homemaking program. The FHA is an organization for girls who are either in homemaking classes or who' have had such classes. The 94 members of this year's chapter have participated in a field trip, cit- izenship week, help to the needy, families together proiects, chili supper, Betty Crocker contest, District meetings, FHA week, scholarship drive, Mother and Daughter Banquet, money making proiects, and a tea for the faculty. Those active in FHA have a real opportunity to use their homemaking skills many times. ' Home proiects are encouraged in each of these areas of the Homemaking Department and again, girls have a real privilege of being co-operative helpers at home through their homemaking skills. g Watch those figures!
