Barbara Maness, Ruth Jump, Gloria Hensley, and Jean Pfanstiel are working at the dif- ferent adding machinesf Carolyn Hayes, Glenna Guttridge, Mr. Losey, Kathryn Mires, Marilyn Schadler, Joan Work- man, and Janet Stanley are using different equipment of the commerce department. COMMERCE DEPARTMENT The commerce department, under the supervision of Mr. Losey, Mrs. Delaney, Mr. Massey, and Mr. Mul- lins, is teaching girls and occasion- ally boys to be efficient and com- petent office workers. Two years of typing and shorthand are offered in the course besides Busi- ness English, Bookkeeping, filing,-and many other subiects which will be of help to graduating commerce students. Ruby Beach, Jane Bates, Nancy Hastings, Sandra Leach, Carolyn Heideman, and others are taking dictation from Mr. Massey. There are many companies which have employed commerce students of Simon Kenton High School. Some of the most familiar are: Proctor and Gamble, Western and Southern, and Bell Telephone 'Com- pany. 25

University of Kentucky Agriculture Agriculfurc Department The sixty-four boys in the Agriculture Depart- ment are studying and ,planning how to be the future citizens to clothe and feed Americans. This department offers four years' extensive study which includes basic agriculture-livestock and crops, the proper operation of the farm and its equipment, construction of buildings, soil types and related sciences. During the year the department produces and sells tobacco as a group. They also sell fertilizer, corn, and many other far-m products. This year these funds were used to remodel the Ag Shop. The boys visit each other's farms to view their achievements and to profit by first-hand obser- vation of what has been accomplished.
