This being the first issue since 1941 not published under war-time restrictions and hindrances is intended to present to you our life as Seniors in our beloved school among our dear friends and teachers. THE PIONEER OF 1946, to us is our dream-book issue, and it has been our wish, as Seniors, to present something better and different. We have intended it to be simple, unique, and to represent us in our daily activities in and around Simon Kenton, the highlight of our youth. As Seniors we must depart, but our departure is indeed with regret. In leaving, it is our hope that in the years to come you may find many pleasant moments in turning the pages of this, our product. May the ties which we have formed here together, both with fellow students, classmates, and faculty members, linger on through the coming years as a true emblem of comradeship. In departing, we would like to thank those persons whose sound advice and cooperation helped us to make this issue a yearbook we shall forever treasure. We shall feel richly repaid if we have succeeded in our efforts in the production of this our PIONEER OF 1946. On September 20, we elected class officers and on the following day we were honored with a free skating party sponsored by Mr. Pruett. On the first day of October, Mrs. Brown appointed the Annual Staff, much to the joy of those who were selected. Then on October 19, we went on a hay-ride. We ended up at Mrs. Brown's where we had a very enjoyable evening. On October 31st We sponsored a Talent Show, which was very successful. By November school was well under way and on the 16th we sponsored an auction sale for the Senior High. On the 29th the Beau and Belle were selected. Then on the 30th we sponsored another bake sale for the Jr. High but the main feature of the day was the winning of our first basketball game. Also around the last part of November, Young 8: Carl came to take pictures for the Annual. December was uneventful until the bad weather started and then school was closed for the Christmas Vacation on December 18th-, three days early. It was a wonderful vacation but also lots of fun when school started again which was January 2nd. January started with cold weather and was a very busy month. By the middle of the month, most of the students began cramming for exams, and teachers started to make out tests. On January 25th the first semester ended and with a sigh- of relief we realized exams were over and we had all survived. We are now looking forward to the second semester of our last year in S. K. S., which will be highlighted with such events as the Senior Class Play which is scheduled for March 29th, and the Junior-Senior Prom on April 5th. We will then skip on until we reach Class Night on May 24th and then our last week of school. On May 26th we will have Baccalaureate. On May 31st the trail stops and we finally attain our goal, GRADUATION. THE BEAU AND BELLE of the Senior Class BEAU: - Carroll Carter BELLE: -- Mabel Lee Benson Best wishes to the Beau and Belle of the Class of 1946 CLASS OF 1946 We, the Seniors want you to know Tlwat from you, Simon Kenton, we hate to go Here we've spent many happy days And vve'lI remember you, in iots of ways. WEHRMAN couNTY JUDGE BETTER SERVICE FOR ALL . . Good telephone service requires more than instruments, wires and central office equipment-more even than operators, linemen, engineers and installers . . . it also requires the thoughtful cooperation of the men, women and young people who use it. Short conversations, courteous sharing of party lines, being sure of your number before calling, and similar practices are essential to good telephone service. We in the telephone industry are constantly striving to provide a high quality system to serve the needs' of our community, but the degree of satisfaction the service affords depends much on how it is used.
