Questioning absolutes, extracting relationships, testing perspectives creating, understanding, observing, discovering-these are the themes of the college experience. They bring us into concert with life by making us aware of the essence of life: Change-the changing, the changed, the changeable. Change is an infinite spectrum. lt is the bold, dramatic, and profound on the one hand, or the subtle, tenuous, and silent on the other. lt is the extravagant newness of a ceaseless variety that makes life full. Yet, it is also a return to that which was. In these four years, we have seen Change in the deaths of great leaders: Kennedy, Churchill, Nehru, . . . . . . in the thrust of the Prudential Center urging Boston to new directions, . . . . . . in the completion of the thorough and thoughtful Self-Study, . . . and in the metamorphosis of young women, achieving an identity by overcoming challenges, making decisions, and assimilating new experiences. And often needing a helping hand, we would like to dedicate the 1966 MICROCOSM to the one person who has most helped us cope with the turbulence and change within ourselves, by being a constant and steadying force, . . .
