Director of Continuing Education The establishment of the Continuing Education Program at Simmons testifies to the College's willingness to meet new educational demands. As Director of the Program, Mrs. Davis presides over a flexible and comprehensive plan which enables women to continue interrupted educations, pursue advanced degrees, or retrain for new Helds by allowing part-time study. Her department is responsible for offering counsel to those enrolled in the Program as well as to women not currently in college. In addition, the Continuing Education department is closely involved with the development of new programs for women, such as the Program in Urban Youth Teacher Preparation. Mrs. Davis's position is both new and exciting. The signiicance of her role and the satisfactions inherent in it are very real. Response to the Program has been terrific, she commented We must be filling a real need. As Director of Student Financial Aid, Mrs. Russell is involved with the processing and evaluation of all applications for financial assistance. Of the approximately 33 per cent of the eligible undergraduates who do file applications, her oflice is able to provide direct aid for Z6 per cent. The directorship she now holds was created in May of 1961, however, Mrs. Russell has been working at Simmons off and on ever since her graduation from the School of Business Administration. Her experience has been limited, she admitted, but I've loved every minute of it.

WILLIAM FREDERICK KAI-IL, Ph.D. Provost, and Professor of History As Provost, Mr. Kahl occupies a new position in the administrative structure of Simmons College. I-Iis is a multi-faceted role, one which further exemplifies the Collegels increasing orientation towards the future. As complex as it is significant, Mr. Kahl's role involves the following: integration of long-range departmental plans, initiation of new courses and curriculum revision, co- ordination of curriculum review, and recommendation for changes in the status of faculty. Simmons is growing and developing its curriculum, Mr. Kahl feels. Essentially his position serves to centralize responsibility for the College's academic affairs. In this manner he is making an invaluable contribution to this growth.
