Of this class a small number of boys and girls started together. They are: Ruth L. Bryan, Betty Crothers, Mary Jane Glass, Richard Pettit, Ruth Anna Roberts, Francis Tidd, Norma Lee Troute and Mary Lou Fox. In the second year we welcomed Dick Arment from Southwood Grade School, Columbus, and Ersia Perkins. There were no more changes in our class until the fourth grade when Paul Graham came to join us from Old Town Run. Robert Chaney joined us in the fifth grade from New Jasper Grade School. Mable Applegate entered the sixth grade with us and later moved to Mount Orab. She rejoined us in our Junior Year. Bill Evans, too, joined us in the sixth grade from White Oak Rural School in Highland County. In the seventh grade we welcomed Eddie Brill from Beavercreek School, Joyce Gustin from Ross, and Ida Roden from Irving School in Dayton. After attending the first four years with us, Mary Lou Fox rejoined us in the seventh grade from Charles L. Loos School in Dayton. Our class remained the same until the Sophomore year, when Violet Conkel came from Ross and Alice Stillwell from Beavercreek School. Our Sophomore Class Plays were given in March, 1947. They were three one- act plays entitled Who Murdered Who, Wildcat Willie Gets Brain Fever and The Farmer's Daughter. Our Junior Class Play, At The End of the Rainbow, was given on October 23, 1947. Our Junior-Senior Banquet was held at the school building on April 30, 1948. The following menu was served: Fruit Cock tail Steak Escalloped Potatoes Battered Peas Individual Salad Plate Rolls and Butter Hot Chocolate Cherry Pie and Ice Cream After dinner the program was presented: Toastmaster . ,.................,...,.. .... ..... We have just celebrated our reunion, ten years after our graduation. Everyone who graduated in our class was able to attend, and it was indeed a pleasure to see them all again. We had our reunion at Silvercreek School. It was really quite interesting to hear of all of the different professions that are now being practiced by members of our class. One of the first persons to arrive was Ida Roden, who finally has become a cosmetic buyer at Marshall-Field in Chicago after attending Kosta Beauty School in Dayton and working at various typing jobs. Next to arrive were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Allen, Jr., formerly Violet Conkel. Violet tells us she really enjoys being a housewife and taking care of their two children. Other guests were Alice Stillwell, who now is an air stewardess employed by T. W. A. after taking three years nurses' training in Dayton. She is now on the flight from Nanking, China, to San Francisco. Ruth Bryan tells us that she is ex- tremely contented owning her own exclusive dress salon in Cincinnati. Her fashions are entirely original and are designed for her by the famous French designer, Christian Dior. Paul Graham is now employed at Wright Field in a very daring position as a test pilot. He re- cently tested out the latest thing in jet planes. Richard Arment has gone into Canada and is very good at his job as a forest ranger. Due to his alertness Dick recently saved from fire many acres of' timber, which was very valuable to the U. S. government. Eddie Brill is in Washington, D. C. working for the government as an F. B. l. agent. Eddie tells us he has had many interesting and valuable experiences in his work. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Evans were among the next to arrive. With Evelyn's inspiration and encour- agement Bill has done very well in the last ten years. He owns his own farm near Jamestown as well as 3,000 acres in Northern Ohio. One of the persons who are helping to keep law and order in our state is Francis Tidd, who is now a State Highway Patrolman. Francis is one of the patrolmen who were responsible for the recent capture of a very dangerous criminal. Richard Pettit tells us that if we are ever in Palm Beach to be sure to visit his exclusive night club, the Club Bermuda, on Sunrise Boulevard. The leading socialites and debutantes of the coun- try enjoy patronizing Dick's club as they say it is the smartest and most luxurious club in the South. Joyce Gustin is a famous photographic model having most of her assignments in New York, but occasionally she goes to Paris or Buenos Aires for fashion shows. You will often see her pictures throughout leading magazines. Ruth Anna Roberts attended U. C. L. A. for two years and is now a Captain in the women's forces in the Army Air Corps stationed in Berlin. Ruth Anna is married to Col. Philip Leiser, who is also stationed in Berlin. Mary Lou Fox has become a well-known pro- fessor at the University of Colorado. She is an instructor of psychology. Mary Lou recently fin- ished writing a textbook on psychology, which will soon be widely used throughout the country. After attending Traphagan Fashion School in New York, Ersia Perkins has become fashion edi- tor for Vogue Magazine. She is also married to the French opera star, Pierre Boyer. Ersia Ann and Pierre have a beautiful home in the East Sixties. t Norma Troute has settled down in sunny Cal- ifornia. She is Elizabeth Taylor's private secre- tary. Norma tells us that Elizabeth is a very fine person to work for, and that they have a lot of fun together even though she is kept quite busy with the star's enormous amount of fan mail. Robert Chaney attended the Virginia Military Institute and is now a major stationed at Elgin Field, Florida. He is an instructor in OHJCCIW Training Candidate School and is very successful in his work. Mabel Applegate is the owner of an exclusive beauty salon in Portland, Oregon. As you probab- ly all know, Mabel is the originator of a new type of permanent wave. Betty Crothers tells us that her clothing fac- tory is quite successful. Betty's factory is located in Dallas, Texas, and she is very busy keeping the factory in running order. Mary Jane Glass is a receptionist at Mayo Clinic. Besides this position she is kept busy help- ing a very well-known heart specialist with some very important experiments. The rest of the afternoon was spent reminisc- ing of school days. Plans were also completed for another reunion to be held in 1969 at the beautiful farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Evans. 'W it 0 'L uf' 9 ..Benyn . uf1!lMlII0Vllu f , E ,,,. Although not winning a game, we feel that we gained valuable experience We know that we gained better sportsmanship with our neighboring schools. We are es- pecially proud of the Cedarville game which we lost to them by a score of only 2-I. Ed Brill's pitching struck 12 men out. The Cedars went on to win the Greene County Pennant. Our team consisted mostly of youngboys, and we hope that they have better luck. SENIOR CHEERLEADERS Icaumic Pickens. Marcin lN1uorm:m. IEIIIVI' Inu I-hx. Kay Scxlur. School: The Student Council of our school is com- posed of two members from each class in the high school elected by the classg two members elected at large from the high school by the pupils and four members elected at large by the high school faculty. The council is to promote a democratic under- standing between the students, teachers. and par- ents. In the council meetings the pupil expresses his opinion on school welfare. makes suggestions for improvements and sets up criteria for guidance procedure. Many well meaning pupils have an oppor- tunity to determine policies of the school through discussion in council meetings. The demerit system is an outgrowth of group discussion. This system is a democratic system of disciplinary control and thus far has worked fairly satisfactorily. We are looking forward to a better attitude toward student government, and at present only the non-conformist seems to offer opposition.
