PAUL A. SQLIARCIA Superintendent of Schools To Members of the Class of 1987 Each member of the Class of 1987 is to exit one phase of life and enter another. Whether you choose to continue your education, join the mili- tary, enter the work force or whatever, you will encounter people in our society who want to experience personal gain whether materially or psy- chologically at someone else's expense. The world is full of cynics who never see a good quality in a man but never fail to see a bad one. lt has been our intention at Silver Lake Regional School District not only to provide you with the essential foundations for a successful transition into adulthood but a perception of life that will help you assist your fellowman. Be strong in your convictions but not overbearing in your approach. Be committed to whatever you are experiencing but not at the expense of others. Be courageous in your endeavors but not foolish in your actions. These are the traits of a good and learned person and these are the characteristics that will make you proud ofwho you are and what you are about to be. lt is nice to become important but it is more important to be nice. May all of your own qualities be enhanced while enhancing the qualities of others. Congratulations to all members of the Class of 1987. I , H, f HLLJZKQX, , Paul A. AHERNE Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CLASS OF 1987: Four years ago you entered Silver Lake Regional School as untested adolescents. During your high school years, educators have endeavored to increase your knowledge and strengthen your ideals. Now as young adults, you emerge to confront the challenges and responsibilities of the future. Take what you have learned and put it to good use. Llse this knowledge and the many skills that you have developed to help you confront the challenges, responsibilities and demands of life. Always use your talents to the best of your ability and with considera- tion for others. Recognize that your contributions as an individual to society are important and could make a difference in this world. My congratulations and best wishes to all members of the Class of 1987. Gigi!
